  1. My chili came in 2nd place. Not bad for being the spiciest of the bunch.
  2. We won’t even have a description. just bowl A,B,C,D, etc. I wouldn’t be surprised if mine was the hottest offering. Last year was a bunch of bland/sweet ground beef tomato soups with two random outliers that were different. My kids insisted that I sign up this year so they would have at least one chili they would really like… It can’t be that hot if my kids eat it, right?
  3. It’s time to make a couple of gallons of chili for the Parrish chili cook off.
  4. I discovered tonight that the ABC store over in Burnsville has a shop dog. I guess I know where I’m buying all my booze from now on.
  5. Just because a counter is going up doesn’t mean that anything worthwhile is happening.
  6. Just ask Travis, I’ve reported a lot of nonsense that has slipped through.
  7. Apparently it’s somewhere just north of 18kHz in my left ear and around 17kHz in my right ear.
  8. I’m not sure, I’ll have to try the tone generator app on my phone. They do sound marvelous and I was shocked at how flat the response was when I measured them. I need to mount the horns properly. I think the dip at 8.2kHz was a reflection off the top of the cab.
  9. Dude is a spammer. Which is why he landed on a post from 7 years ago for his first post.
  10. Gots to have a good tweeter to get all the way to 20kHz.
  11. You guys should trade guitars every once in a while.
  12. Seeing some of my old buddy Doug Kauer’s guitars on the wall at Guitar Center in Johnson City TN this afternoon.
  13. I already have a guitar with a hole in the side. Maybe I should clean it up and pretend it’s a feature.
  14. It’s one of the older series before they added the player port. A friend of mine had one a few years ago and I really liked it a lot. But again, not a small guitar.
  15. I already have several dreadnoughts so I kinda want something smaller and a little easier to get my arm over when I’m sitting on the couch.
  16. There’s a Gibson G45 near me for about $700. I think I’d need to sell some other gear to afford it right now.
  17. Was this you that I saw at my work luncheon yesterday?
  18. I’m trying to convince myself I don’t need a Gibson acoustic.
  19. It’s a great place to start but there is only so much if that I can do over the phone and via FaceTime with some non technical staff
  20. It was a warm day in the mountains. I had to run down to Asheville this morning to check out the display and speakers in the conference room at the office we have near the hospital. Easy enough, it’s only about an hour down the road from the house. On my way there, the boss calls and lets me know we are still having internet issues at another office down in Webster. I call some staff in Webster and talk them through rebooting the equipment, it doesn’t come back online. I call the ISP, “oh yeah we are having a big outage right now.” Okay, I finish up in Asheville and go to lunch. The ISP emails back, “our stuff is up but we aren’t seeing anything on your side after we hand off port1”. Easy enough, it’s only an hour down the road from the Asheville office. I get there and walk in and immediately notice the patch cable in port1 on the ISP’s router is not plugged in all the way. (CLICK) Everything comes back up. Apparently the staff on site last night let the kids in the closet by themselves to grab a broom to sweep up after their group session. I gently express my displeasure at letting the kids near the network equipment with the staff member who just walked in. I lock the closet door and head out to my burb to drive home. Easy enough, it’s only two hours down the road from the Webster office. I get home and crank these bad boys up and start thinking about buying a detail sander so I can refinish the cabs.
  21. The timer on the oil pumps for our popcorn machines at the movie theater where I used to work had a row of dip switches to set the time that the pump would run. Typical 8bit octet of switches with the units in seconds. first switch was 0/1 seconds, the next switch was 0/2, 0/4, etc. One morning someone had messed with the switches on one of the timer units and the guy that noticed(who might have been the guy who messed with it in the first place) thought he knew how it worked and he figured we needed about 8 seconds worth of oil so he flipped them all on and pressed the start button. 255 seconds later…
  22. If it’s been working with another monitor then it’s probably fine. Are you setting the monitor to use the VGA input via it’s on screen display and menu buttons? Sometimes even if they are set to auto detect input they won’t switch depending on the display protocol passed through from a docking station.
  23. I’ve got one of these PA’s but the 100watt tube head needs a little work. The two 4x10 cabs sound nice for guitar but I don’t think they have enough low end to make me happy enough to use them for bass as is. maybe with some heftier drivers.
  24. I sold my original 700RB and 210RBH cab about 10 years ago. I got the 400RB back in January of this year. I’d like to get/build some bigger cabs for it but for now it sounds great with the single 12” Celestion that used to be in the Trace Elliot combo.
  25. Ampeg still makes some(non tube) Portaflex series amps and cabs. I was looking into getting one when I came across the used Gallien-Krueger 400RB I ended up getting instead.
