  1. Hi guys I've been ever facing matching speakers in my life again . I got the RC-3II and was thinking of getting RB-35 or RB-3. They will be placed as the front speakers until I get RF-3II or other speakers and the surround back after I got those speakers(can't wait anymore the upgrade bugs bite me hard ). Which one will be better choice for my system? Thanks
  2. Thanks alot for clear explanation(especially for those LCD part, since I didn't really understand how LCD works too much) . Gee I was nearly to get the speakers without shielded and the reciever just sit next to the position that I'm going to place the speakers. Thanks again .
  3. Hi there everyone it's my first time to come into the technical forum(kept wondering around Home Theater section previous time) . Will the speakers which are not magnetically shielded affect the LCD and reciever or not??? I was wondering about this for long time because the magnetic was mainly dealing with the machines that rely on magnetic field(like CRT's tube). Sorry kinda stupid in physics and mechanics . Thanks in advance

Wanted to keep cost down below $300 if possible. - room is shared with the 2 very young kids so there is a low 3' high bookshelf along the front wall below screen with a regular TV on the shelf in one corner so RF's are out. - height of fronts and center is pretty much fixed due to projector screen and kids TV in corner. - if front speakers too big the aforementioned "cow" will probably get a brother/sister I noticed so far that you both agreed on regular front facing RF/RC speakers as opposed to the dispersion type RS for rear center surrounds, is there any main reason for this ? How about the height of these, would it not be better that they are closer to height of front center ? Would love to get bigger RF25/35 in front so may look to buy used. ---------------- If you can, why don't you get a pair of RF25/35 and place the RB15 in the back? Btw the room size's fine for it, I've RC-3II as the center and gonna get Ref 3II/35 series with smaller room. I also just read the post that TheEar has 4RF7 and 2RF5 at that similar to your room size(with 1X of sub? ) Worry about nothing but just be aware of your wife may kick you out of the home once you get some too great speakers If you can't afford that, pick a RC3II/RC35 and switch it to new front center and bring the RC-25 to the back(You usually can some find RC3II used or even brand new for 230@eBay)
  5. No they don't come with the stand. The speakers are basically what you have, and nothing else(well perhaps some "cushion stickers")

If I was buying any of these two or lets say three speakers I would be more concerned with the price than anything else. If the price was equal I would go with the newer model. ---------------- Thanks for correction, I was deadly blind Btw the magnetically shield would be important if u place around other components. I did have speakers which were not shielded that ruined my monitor out within a year
  7. different response range, and some more really technically........ something a "listener" won't aware of. Most says Ref 35 series are more fully covered for the sound and Ref 3II is more warmer etc. You just search 35 and 3II these 2 terms you will get lots in the forum(I asked one like a month ago). But the thing I'm mostly aware of is............. Ref 3II series is much cheaper, for a college student like me I'm always going with similar things but much lower price(some shops even bring down their price to ref 25s level or even 15s!)

Right now, while watching movie, it sound pretty good, but when listening to music, it doenst sounds good at all. I was thinking about Outlaw 950/770 combo, rotel... and suggention? ---------------- I didn't heard of any Outlaw's product because they usually sell online only(didn't have chance anyone who has it nearby). However I heard they are great as many people said(I can't say that because I didn't listen to any of it yet). I heard of rotel was great but it gets worse after moving their manufactory to somewhere. One way I'd say save up a little more bucks and go for great seperate like B&K plus something in total of 3000-3500. Another way if u want it now I'd go with some higher end reciever eg. Elite or Denon H/K(sure this idea won't have too much improvement than comparing to seperates).
  9. A pair of RF-35 is all you have or??? If it's stereo I'd say start with seperate? If u got 5.1+ I'd say still pick a pre/pro then pick some amp like parasound 1205A or even better?
  10. http://www.gedlee.com/Home_theatre.htm Just opened klipsch site and saw this as their advertisment, anyone look into it?

I would try and stay the same in the fronts though. Do a search for RC3 and RC35 and see what all the people have been saying. Most of them agree that the rc3 sounded better in some areas. ---------------- yea that's why i got RC3II However I can heardly find RF-3II around
  12. Goodguys sells their speakers as single. However I'd say pick the RC-35 instead of RS-35 to be the back center. Better sound and RS series aren't directional like RCs
  13. Does anyone know are the 3II series and 35 series are all match with the sound? Or I should stick with either one of the series with it?
  14. I understand why the author writes that if the author points to the price/performance ratio to some brands which worth more for the money the put on. As they go up to the top of the market the higher price and getting lesser quality gained per dollar. However it's how the market works in modern world. If u want to get rid of it, don't use any brand name electronics and learn all of everything to build your own electronics(even no radio no tv they are pricy ). I'd say Polk Klipsch and Pioneer are out of the list. They do have expensive flagship product, but they do have products having price performance ratio as well(if you aren't rich enough just pick the lower end, there's variety of choices). Let Sony stays in it(yea I'm not Sony maniac)
  15. Well what's your budget for the reciever? Or everyone will throw you tube amps or B&K
  16. I'd say gamecube or gameboy advance??? There are more lower ages oriented(no bloody/killing/heads cut off etc). Lots of partys games that you can play with them on gamecube too(Mario Kart/Parties series). My friend which is girl loves these 2consoles and go ahead with lots of Mario or Yoshi. PS2 and Xbox just higher aged players oriented with more bloody/killing games like Halo/Tekken that all shouldn't be played by kids.

But I was extremely worried about a warranty if I bought it through ebay or online. So I was just going to pick up the powerbar at Best Buy. I admit I am making this very complicated.... but I don't know the difference between the HTS2500 and say the Powerbar 1100. I see that the powerbar has more joules but it cost $100 less, so thats kinda confusing. I kinda know the difference between HTS2000 and HTS2500 but its just numbers to me. I am very new to home theater and its sad that I bought good speakers, reciever, and cables. But the surge protector has me the most confused :-( ---------------- You can just go bestbuy and pick the HTS2500. I'd say not the 1100 or 2600..... I just checked and their price was just ridiculous. For 1100 it's like the price of HTS2000 and the 2600 was near 3500's price. If it's like minn_male that lives in such dangerous area I'd say get something with warranty for definite protection. Those aren't the place to save few bucks in, it'll burn the whole equipment set out.

Will the powerbar also decrease my overall dynamic range like you said the Wal-mart one would? I looked at some of the Reference stuff on monster cables website but I don't think I can afford one that would provide the same joule rating and protection that the PowerBar 1100 would have. Do you think that the PowerBar will be enough protection? And will the powerbar get rid of the "hum"?? If not does the "hum" hurt or damage my equipment? And thanks for putting up with me :-) Thanks for the help ---------------- From the several previous posts. Some people towards more experience would give u some clue about better brand for the surge protector and what kind of jjoule rating/surge protector model u should need. I don't know how much are you gonna spend, but at least I'd recommend u should take some model like 2500+ as others recommend. And you should check out the ebay prices for those(I wonder they sell like new stocked stuff but they are even much cheaper than I can find in any online retailers). HTS2500 is around $200 and HTS-3500 is around $250. Which I think both are good deals(I was going for HTS2500 if I didn't see the HTS-2000 @$80 too) No the hum doesn't damage the equipment but cost some annoying sound to the clean sound(even the speakers and sub will have it, and affecting their own sound too). The powerpar does mainly to "filter" and "protect". That's what you are looking for, so don't worry about they don't work well. If I were you I'd definitely pick one up, it's not just the power filtration upgrade but also the sound quality. Just think of it you are getting better cable or something to give the speakers to have cleaner source for better sound. Then you will be willing to spend the money PS. Forget about the monster cable new model like 1100 or 2600 or such, it's little new model for same joule proection and the price goes up to the higher model's level.

In my house that would be the study. ---------------- I've 4 corners in my room and that'd be the best placement atm Another 2 would near the door and one faces towards the door if I place the sub in. Then people who live in the same floor would get much more sound than ever. Actually I'm just thinking of will the bass really transfer that much to down stairs?
  20. Thanks for reply I guess it's not down firing sub for my sub and even my incoming sub). Because I found out my house has really thin between two floors. Even I could hear it if I put my timberland shoes on and walked around my house. So the chairmat won't help except in low volume?
  21. I started to figure out that I'm turning my sub and system louder and louder. As the landlord lives right under my room, I'm thinking of adding the chairmat under the sub to reduce affecting the landlord(or she may kick me outta here someday). Would that really help reducing sound transferring to downstairs and the quality of the sound comes out from sub will go down a lot? Thanks in advance

The cheapest I've ever seen would be around 750 at least including shipping?
  23. ---------------- On 1/19/2004 11:39:06 PM minn_male42 wrote: 2. the hum is not related to your surge protector... most likely you have a ground loop.... if any of your components are plugged into a different circuit.. you may be getting a ground loop.... make sure everything is plugged into the same outlet...(via an outlet strip or surge protector) and finally... a $30 "surge protector" is really an expensive outlet strip... probably worth about $5.... ---------------- Yea the ground loop would cause the hum and the surge protector doesn't cause any. However one way of elminating it was using better surge protector to filter it out. Some people who own the house can do any modification like add the copper rod to cancel it out outside the house. The people who's renting the house like me can't do anything to house and getting the surge protector with filter function is the better way to go.

Yeah, I don't know of any others named "Blue Mountain", but there is also a "Blue Knob" ski area in Pennsylvania, and people often get those two confused. The two days I spend there, I did not have to pay one cent for lift tickets - one of the nice benefits of being on the ski patrol - often can get comp tickets at other moutains. As to what this has to do with Bose and car audio? - absolutly nothing . ---------------- Wow nice skiing support that you have It has a little to do with the Bose, which skiing is much better entertain than listening to the Bose
