  1. Let's pick a date and come on by! I'm actually far enough out that traffic isn't a big issue unless it's a race weekend...I live near the Speedway
  2. Travis, I'm in North Fort Worth (North of downtown and a little west of the Texas Motor Speedway) drop me a PM and I'll give you a shout if you like. Art
  3. P.S. Michael, maybe a road trip for a weekend of listening and some of your spectacular photography work?????? I have a couple manufacturers who would like to use pics on their website....
  4. Thanks so much for the kind words guys, it's been a long journey, but well worth it. The room measurements are 20x23x10.5 and the room measures +/- 1.5db and the decay measurements are incredible. The tubes weren't that hard to make, and really weren't overly expensive, if anyone wants a hand drop me a line and we can hook up by phone. If you're ever in the DFW area, please feel free to get ahold of me and come by for a listen, it's pretty cool. Up next for it is 2 of those tube lights you see in the picture, but that change color on a slow phased cycle, I kinda want a light show sometimes [6] We'll probably do infinite baffle subs this summer as well....
  5. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstube&1179536707 Also pretty sweet
  6. Everyone that comes in my room is pretty sure I'm nuts when they see it, but love the sound....
  7. That's the basic idea, I added and deleted a couple steps from this and other diy's out there.
  8. I made the columns myself out of James Manville rigid fiberglass pipe covers, half-covered in aluminum backed paper, wrapped in mesh screen for smooth surfaces, and then fabric wrapped. Each column is roughly 9' tall, with 2" thick walls, and there are 3 diameters, 9", 16", and 22" Finally they are stuffed full of Owens Corning acoustic insulation for attics. If anyone wants to know how to make them, drop me a PM and I can walk you through it. They have done amazing things for the sonics of the room and really aren't expensive or a big pain (once you've gone through the trial and error). The lights are just some floor standing lamps from Pottery Barn. As far as a sub, these are prototype speakers that Danny Richie at GR Research is making for Mark Schifter and they measured down to 18 in-room, so I haven't felt the need for a sub yet, but may still add some infinite baffel units into the walls....but that's for another day....[8-)]
  9. Diffusion and absorbtion panels and tubes, the whole room is treated with them....
  10. I try and give my wife credit on these boards when I can....this year she helped me form, screen, and spray glue fabric wrap onto 36 rigid fiberglass tubes of various dimension so I could make absorbers and bass traps for my room....and she's lost 85% of her hearing, so I know it ain't about the music for her! She never complains about gear, and there's bunches rolling in and out of here right now....I love her and as someone said earlier, so appropriately, I am married to my best friend. Sounds like we all have some things to be thankful for....

  20. what are you looking for specifically? There are not really many good higher end shops in DFW/ Krystal Clear in Dallas carries BAT and some others, Marvin's is a pain. I know a couple custom guys who carry Cary and others and might be able to work auditions out. Drop me a note.
