  1. That's a bass rig too - 8x10, Marshall 4x12, two 18" bins, and a couple other cabinets up top. If you sat in front of Chris at a show, it kicked you in the sternum all night and rattled your bones when he stepped on the Moog Taurus bass pedals.

  2. I am just gutted right now, Yes was my first concert ever and I'd seen them more than any other band. Last two years, travelled on Cruise to the Edge with Yes and other rocker bands, Chris looked on approvingly late one night as a passenger band played Gates of Delirium. He was an affable fellow, open to discussions with passengers and loving the limelight. He lived a quintessential rock lifestyle and not arguably was one of the two greatest bassists in rock of all time, the other being John Entwistle. He will be missed, but he has left us with quite a catalog of music to enjoy. In the last two days I've listened to Fish out of Water, watched Yessongs, House of Yes, Symphonic Yes, and the Keys to Ascension series.

If you want to get a chill, check out the lyric and solo vocal of Chris on 'Can you Imagine?' from the Magnification album.

  3. He had the Klipsch stacks sold to a guy in Asia.  However, when they showed up, they couldn't get the trailer to pack right.

He even took a sledge hammer to an MWM bin to try to break it down for shipping (he had already paid for it), but once cracked it open and realized how complicated it was he gave up.

I think that explains this photo:

  4. Mine are in my 6 car workshop (1700 ft2), about 20' apart toed in 45^, some 15-25' from my normal work space, and aimed so that when I open a single overhead door to the back yard, they point out that way. On the opposite wall I have two KP201 hung high on the wall, inverted with tweeters down, reversed L/R so that wherever I stand in the shop, I have  L and R. Creates a nice sound field.

  5. No need for recapping or new diaphragms on these models. Absolutely not. If it ain't broke etc. Please listen to them for 30 days first and see if you don't enjoy their sound as is. I think too often we stampede to the modifications sand box without a proper initial listen. They are modifications, not necessarily 'upgrades' in my opinion.

  6. None planned at the moment   Might have to go local, well an hour away.

Surely there's something at the Rock N Bowl. Check out the Peach Festival August 15 - lots of fabulous acts if you're up for the travel. Sadly I'll be out at a Kansas/Yes/Toto weekend near Detroit.

  8. I believe the OP has made it clear 'available for pickup', meaning 'not willing to ship'. I've said this in for sale threads and stick to my guns with beautiful pairs of irreplaceable speakers. It's the seller's choice in this situation.

All I'd need is a couple Diet Rock Stars, some Snickers and a bag of pepperoni Combos and I'd be there by morning... ijs...

  9. KG2.0 are some rocking little speakers 10" woof and 8" passive if memory serves. I had a pair at one point they were great very placement sensitive because you really couldn't use them on a bookshelf without them sounding boxy. Great on stands or in a mid sized room like home office though. GLWS.

VT - look for something with front ports like the later series RB.

  10. Although they sound great, I would tend to not want to use an MDF cabinet outdoors much, especially in humid areas. Maybe consider something from the pro line KPT201 (H II in battle dress), or KSB1.1 (plastic cabinets).  Or get a real beater set of RB5's and give a good coating of Duratex.

  11. Yes fuses suck in pro speakers. Good job with the handles and modifications.

Actually later split versions were made with pebble paint, rubber edge guards and corners and square 2x2x1' top sections with matching corner/edge guards or routed corners and just paint only.

  12. Read the DIY blog of Ethan Winer, he has some very good information on the use of acoustic treatments in rooms. There are many things to consider, among them, whether you need diffraction, diffusion, or absorbtion, and if the latter, at which frequency bands? Also the techniques of live end/dead end, diffusing/absorbing at the points of early reflections ( the mirror trick), bass traps in corners etc.

When I build my Home theater, the first thing I'm going to do is eliminate parallel walls.

  13. These would have the trapezoid tops, looks like most of them are the painted variety. I've always preferred the fibreglass once LS-BG-S, but for that price you can't hardly go wrong. Currently own a minty pair with a third for outdoor cinema LCR.   The extra bass bins he's offering make it a doubly sweet deal. I've got all kinds of posts in the Pro section on how to get inside the danged top bins, revamp the xover, or how to add the cast frame basket woofers.

GLWS - go get em guys!
