  1. Link above has been edited and is now working properly....Please e-mail me or post here if problems with link. I tried to add in my signature but it would not let me. Here it is again for my DIY 214L Tempest 15" Subwoofer: http://www.ofoto.com/Slideshow2.jsp?index=1&UV=531247576485_32052340703&collid=63232959603
  2. Thanks guys. BKROP, I think others could order photos of my pics if they want but it is a free host site so I never gave any personal info or cc info. So if they order pics they will have to give their personal and cc info. Elgrillo- thanks a lot. I have right around $305 into the hardware and I paid my buddy $100 to do all the capentry work and assemble everything but the bottom and spray/sand the finish. he didn't want to charge me anything but he said that it would probably be around $400 approx. for someone off the street if they wanted him to cut, assemble and paint. I installed everything related to the amp. driver, ports, polyfill and bottom. Thanks for noticing my chairs also, the two outside chairs in the front row recline fully the one in the middle doesn't. Both chairs in the 2nd row recline. I have found it difficult to stay awake if I recline these very much and if it is late!! The projector and screen were a package deal and were just under $6K combined one year ago. The same PJ and screen can be had right now for under $5K. If you are thinking of spending $3-4K on a RPTV, you should strongly reconsider and look at the Picture quality, SIZE and real feel a Front PJ system will give you for not much more money. Arfz28- I notice you have K-Horns and a DIY Sonotube...Awesome. My setup sounds very good with music also, even better when I use my JVC DVD-Audio system. Chorus II's are highly regarded for 2-CH stereo, I think right there with my KLF-30's but not in the same league as your K-Horns. Thanks.
  3. Sean, Thanks a lot, I assume the link works OK then...I can honestly say that this sub from the outside looks MUCH nicer than the build quality of my KSW-15. All the corners mate perfectly with no evidence of any joints or seams. No nails/brads were used on the outside of the box and the only screws were used were on the bottom for the driver, ports and the actual bottom plate to secure to the box. I still look forward to comments on this subs relative performance to other's.
  4. After many months of deliberation and subwoofing homework, I decided to go the DIY route. I did much research at HTFORUM, AVSFORUM and here. Before this project I have been using the following Klipsch speakers and subs. MAIN ROOM: Marantz SR-8000 KLF-30's KLF-C7 KSP-S6's Dish Network PVR-508 W/60 hour hard drive Mitsubishi 35" Toshiba 5-disc dvd BASEMENT THEATRE: Chorus II's KLF-C7 KSP-S6's KSW-15 Front sub KSW-100 Rear sub Pioneer VSX-811S DTS-ES/DD receiver used as PRE/PRO Parasound HCA-806 6 channel AMP JVC XV-90BK 7 disc DVD/CD changer Panamax 1000+ line conditoner/surge protector S-VHS VCR 16 x 9 LCD Projector Studio Experience SE-13HD Da-Lite Hi Contrast 52" x 92" screen Dish Network Model 6000 Hi-Def receiver for Sat and OTA Anyway, I had a friend build me the box as he is a custom carpenter and we used the plans for Adire Alignment 214L right form the white papers on the Adire website. I bought the Tempest 15" driver from Adire for $162 shipped, the Parts Express 250W plate amp (300-794) for $119, two port tubes for $11 each and the polyfill for $6 at Wal-Mart. Well, I really didn't expect much from this sub but many had said it would smoke my KSW-15 and make it cry in shame. Well, to all that I doubted, I apologize. This sub has the tightest, lowest, loudest SPL I have heard from any sub less than $1,000, maybe more. I have run numerous test DVD's and compared with my KSW-15 and it is like comparing Klipsch Quintets to my KLF-30's. I could not be happier and more impressed. The cabinet as it stands complete is 37.5" tall with legs and 22" by 22" square. It is big!!!! For comparison, my KSw-15 is approx. 17.5" x 17.5" x 20" tall. I ran some Bass Mekanik test tones through it with the plate amp volume at about 6 of 10 and at around 20 HZ not much could be heard but my house started shaking violently.....literally..It was rattling everything in my house including my innards. I am going to try and post the link below for all to see pics but not sure how to do. So give it a shot and let me know what you think. Cabinet is 3/4" MDF with a walnut veneer on the full 4 x 8 sheets and turned out perfect and is sprayed with a coat of sealer, 2 coats of black lacquer and a top coat of clear. All internal/external pieces were mitre cut and secured using would glue with clamps. All Internal seams were sealed with silicone adhesive as well as port tubes and driver. This baby is air tight and probably weighs around 175-200 pounds. It is solid as a brick s-house and filled with 64oz. of polyfill. I could not be happier and look forward to TheEars and others regarding critical comments on actual specs this sub will generate. I have a RS SPL meter and test tracks but have never really tried to measure anything as far as output goes. Any suggestions so I can post numbers?? Any feedback on what this sub may compare best to? How about SVS or M & K, Paradigm, Velodyne or Klipsch RSW series? Here goes with my DIY 214L Tempest 15" Subwoofer link: http://www.ofoto.com/Slideshow2.jsp?index=1&UV=531247576485_32052340703&collid=63232959603 You will have to cut and paste this link since I don't how to get it to go direct...Can anyone reformat it for me and post as a direct click link? Thanks, Brett
  5. Moon, You are a diplomatic genius!!!! I think you may have found the solution for world peace. This very well could be the beginning of a mutual respect and understanding. Now start dishing the treasure chest!! But none of that Left coast, same sex marriage, alternative lifestyle, two dads (or moms) and a kid bulls#$%!! Just straight hetero....send the gay stuff to headgiver and SircleJerk993....Just kidding guys, this thread really needs to lighten up Moon, I believe we have had differences in the past, but after seeing Tia's Ti$ I can't even remember what they were.....In fact, I now feel like we have something in common and could probably get along just fine :-0 Now you're thinking like a true American!!! Damn Afghan's, etc. don't allow their women to show any skin...what the hell is that all about. If nothing else the Afghans deserve their right to porn.
  6. Cybergeek shoots and scores. I am going to have to quit reading all the long-winded posts by these murderer lovers because I can't take the head in the sand approach much longer. The recent election spoke volumes about what the majority of the US wants and that is no more liberals in Gov....Class warfare, murderer and child molester loving policy, rights for the gitmo bay prisoners, electric cars and the What Would Jesus Drive Campaign, as well as numerous other spineless, economically foolish policies...These are just some of the ignorant BS topics that we are tired of. This country has more rights for the defendant than the victim or the accusers could ever dream of thanks to the freakin' ambulance chasers and bleeding hearts. You guys think that we are losing rights..Wakeup!! We are trying to enforce the rights we have, in our countries best interest.
  7. What a bunch of murderer lovers. This is the equivalent of being beat up by the school bully 10 times and never defending yourself. The bully will seek you out and shake you down because he knows you have no balls to defend yourself. He knows that he can keep beating your *** (killing our civilians) as well as taking your lunch money. You guys probably think OJ is innocent also. The problem is that you guys are inviting them to come back with your "stay out of the middle east policy". It won't be long before Palestine goes one step too far and leave Israel no option but a massive demonstration of force. Osama ***** laden went one step too far bringing it to our soil, so guess what we will flatten them and then help rebuild them. Iraq---what kind of fool thinks that "we just decided to attack them now, a year later"???? We have been setting the stage since 9/11, first in Afghanistan, then resting our troops and now we will attack Iraq by February. What part of irrational human beings don't you guys get?? Why do you think our government does not negotiate with terrorists? Because they don't value life or even want to play by the rules. It is not about innocent civilians it is about the ruthless dictators who control the innocent civilians. Our government, military and most citizens know and understand this. I'm ashamed you people are calling yourself Americans. At what point would we be justified in attacking Iraq? If one more major city and 1,000 people die? or 3 major cities, 2 airliners, a cruise ship and 5,000 US citizens are simultaneously attacked?
  8. Brian/Mike----"One"......Thanks, I can't believe I forgot that one. HDBR- Ligthen up....I did not single you out with my "liberal policy" statement, sorry if you felt I did. I, in fact, find you are overly diplomatic regarding this situation and therefore I will categorize you leaning to towards the left or a "do nothing" policy. Your posts are thought provoking, albeit long-winded, but Audioflynn did a fine job of summarizing what most of us Conservative folks are thinking. You continuously avoid the fact that we are not dealing with rational human beings who value life, diplomacy and a western way of life, so therefore, do we allow them to grow in strength and inflict more damage around the civilized world or do we send the only message that these people understand?----Loss of life. Wars are not desirable....I think we all agree, but we MAY have to risk our American soldiers to protect the greater good. I have the confidence that our military will not put our troops in too many ground combat situations....were you around for Desert Storm?...The damn Iraqi's ran to us with their hands up after seeing what a few hellfire missiles can do. You said it best, we are not evicting Iraq from another country, so all the more reason to just focus on an extended air campaign until such time there are no more targets. You are biased towards protecting our troops and I am biased towards protecting our country and what it stands for (the greater good). I pray we don't lose a soul, but if I had to decide, you have to err on the side of deterring/destroying them and the greater good, before they hit us again.
  9. Bkrop- I took your advice and started drinking around dinner tonight and just got home to find that Boa12 had the best suggestion since my last post. On topic, I second Boa12's vote for Black Sabbath's "War Pigs".....Now this is a great song. I thought of another good one also, but can't think of the name right now, it's the metallica song with the choppers at the beginning and end....Help me out with this one somebody... How about we only allow posts on topic in this thread and then someone else can start a thread called "Why I love liberal policy"
  10. Brian, I have no problem with the US support of Israel...I hope that isn't an interpretation you made from my post. My point was that, if not for US support/backing, Israel and that part of the world would be far more unstable than it is already and they most certainly would be in a full scale war with Palestine and who knows who else. If Israels neighbors/enemies didn't fear the US getting involved they would have attacked them long ago. It doesn't hurt that we supply them with a little bit of cash and extra munitions to keep things fair over there. ------- Don't compare Hitler to Osama or Saddam---BS!!!! They "may" have different end goals in mind but there common disregard for human life and genocidal tendencies is a true parallel putting them all in the evil dictator category. Should I be sympathetic to Saddam and Osama's hatred of the US more so than Hitler's evil desire to rid the world of Jews and all others that didn't fit his description of supreme beings?
  11. I have read all the posts here and will answer on-topic first. The music selection for our glorious USAF and NAVY pilots during their sorties should be: "Let the bodies hit the floor" by Drowning Pool. Now, I have read all the posts here and am saddened that many here have no backbone and have already lost sight of the fact that terrorists flew TWO jumbo jet commercial airliners into the World Trade Center buildings and KILLED over 3,000 innocent Americans from all ethnic and religious backgrounds trying to live in peace/harmony together here in the US. I guess we should just pull out of the Middle East, Afghanistan and everywhere else in the world where we are trying to help countries that have oppressive governments and ruthless dictatorships, right? I wonder where the world would be today if the US didn't go and defend ALL OF EUROPE during WWII against Nazi Germany and Hitler's sick plan. I wonder if France would exist if not for the US saving their ***. I wonder how long Israel would remain unattacked if the US wasn't their best friend in the world. It is a matter of principle people. You either support a semi-Democratic, peaceful society or you don't, or as Bush has said, "You either are in support of Terrorism or against it" (paraphrased). DeanG- Do you actually think our gov. will plan a ground assault before we decimate every last moving object in Iraq?? Don't think it (Bio warfare/VX) is not our gov/military's biggest concern because it is. I have a brother 20 years in the USAF and they have Job 1---Air superiority and destroy all major offensive threats on the ground other than individual people. Why would we even need to bring in ground troops when we will own the skies and can contain them from above??? We are not putting Iraq on notice, we are putting the WORLD on notice that you WILL be attacked if you harbor, protect, promote or sponsor terrorism. This is not to lose the element of surprise but in order to give them very last chance to do what is right and also to gain support from the world community that we have given ample notice Why don't we all go stick our heads in the sand and wait until they hit the Sears Tower in Chicago or the Transamerica building in San Francisco (no smartass comments about liberal SF please) just kidding Forrest! Or a crowded school or airport terminal...Should we just go back to sleep as a country like the Clinton years and strive for photo opportunites with ruthless dictators like Yasser Arafat and Palestine. Yasser must be laughing now after all of the photos and lunches with Clinton promising he would be nice to Israel and that he has nothing to do with the attacks on them. How many more Innocent Americans or otherwise need to die before you people get it?? If your loved one(s)were lost due to WTC/9/11 or the recent bombings in Bali, would you be satisfied to just have our gov./military sit home and wait for the shoulder launched rockets to hit our commercial runways and take out more civilians?? There is a fundamental difference in phiolosophy, ideology and religion both here in this country and in the world. Some believe that we should cohabitate and strive for a democratic western style of life and government and others despise the western world and all that it stands for. The biggest difference being that many who oppose us will kill innocent people in their ignorant fight for what they believe is right whereas the US will defend itself vigorously against those who harm innocent civilians on our soil or our neighbors. Forest is right on! Too bad most conservatives wouldn't waste their breath on these lame criticisms and "do nothing, passive responses". It is not about oil, as much as that is good NY Times liberal hype, as it is about Freedom and protecting our society and way of life here in the US AND in other Free societies/countries in the world. Food for thought- Definition of a Liberal- Someone who just got pulled over for drunk driving. Definition of a conservative- Someone who just got pistol-whipped and car-jacked.
  12. I will jump on the Parasound bandwagon and mention that I am a new Parasound fan. I bought the Parasound 806A 6 channel amplifier this summer because my Pioneer VSX-811S receiver was clipping at high levels. I am driving Chorus II mains, KLF-C7 center KSP-S6 surrounds and a KLF-C7 rear center. Also using sub out for front KSW-15 and rear KSW-10. I was a little skeptic at first, but once I hooked up the Parasound, it was sonic bliss!!!!! And more dynamic then I dreamed..........Power??......Good lord!....I am using the Peon-eer now as my pre-pro/tuner and all is well. With the Pioneer the rec. would clip during heavy bass/action scenes at around -28 on the volume dial. Now with the Parasound I can't listen above -34 and that is for men only!!!! Women and small children run upstairs at anything louder than -40 now. BTW, I bought my Parasound 806A used for $400 off the HT Forum classifieds. I would buy a good processor for DD-EX, DTS-ES 5/7 ch. stereo and a good tuner and you will be at least as good as the flagship AV receivers. I have since learned that Parasound is a world class brand for separates and know first-hand why. Good luck!!
  13. Colin is right on here.....Ditto his comments exactly. Most Klipsch factory speakers I have purchased come with small male plugs that are in each location where the banana plugs would go, just carefully pry them out and you should be able to plug in the single or dual banana posts. I believe the spacing between this type of connection is standard so any dual plug will fit. Good luck.
  14. Did anyone note the date above??? August 3, 2001....This is pretty old but worth a try if in need of S6's, as they are a tough find.
  15. Trey, Thanks a lot for your help. I ordered 3 pairs of BP-3's (3 red and 3 black) and already received and installed them all. They fit perfectly! Trey, you and BobG and many other Klipsch employees do a tremendous job of providing very personalized customer service. Keep it up!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks a lot for your fast response on the BB and the time you spent with me on the phone. All is well in this KLIPSCH house. Here's the latest update on my Klipsch collection: Great Room: KLF-30's KLF-C7 KSP-S6's Basement Theater: Chorus II's KLF-C7 Center KSP-S6's KLF-C7 Rear Center KSW-15 Front Sub KSW-100 Rear Sub Master Bath: IC-525's in-ceiling speakers Master Bedroom KSC-SC1 Center The rest is in progress...... Thanks, Brett
  16. DustinB- How about ranking the top three to consider based on bang for the buck in your opinion...I settled on the Tempest 15" after a lot of research. Let me/us know your thoughts. I know each has different cabinet requirements which makes comparisons somewhat difficult but I focused on total cost vs. total performance since space is not a big issue but I didn't want a 300L water heater or refrigerator sub in my listening room!!! (Correction, my wife would probably not want it I would love it!!)
  17. Arfz28-----I will be using this sub primarily (90%) for HT in my basement theater (see link below) Arfz28----I currently have the following setups: Great Room/Main floor: KLF-30's Mains KLF-C7 Center KSP-S6's Surrounds Marantz SR-8000 DD/DTS Toshiba SD4205 5 disc DVD/CD Mitsubishi 35" DISH PVR-508 receiver Basement Theater: Chorus II Mains KLF-C7 Center KSP-S6's Surrounds KLF-C7 Rear Center' KSW-15 Front Sub KSW-100 Rear Sub Pioneer VSX-810S DD/DTS-ES (Used as Processor) Parasound HCA-806 6 channel AMP Panamax MAX 1000+ Surge Protector/Line Conditioner JVC XV-90BK 7 disc progressive scan DVD/DVD Audio/CD/MP3 Philips S-VHS DISH 6000 HDTV receiver with OTA HD tuner Studio Experience SE-13HD LCD Projector DA-LITE Da-Mat Hi-Contrast 52" x 92" screen (106"D) Lutron Grafik eye 3104 lighting control Stadium seating for 5 plus one matching leather recliner I can't wait to finish it and test it out...I will post pics and my feedback.
  18. I am almost done with this DIY sub per the Adire Audio (www.adireaudio.com) plans. I am using 3/4" MDF with a veneer that will be sprayed black satin to match the rest of my Klipsch speakers. All sides to box are mitred, glued and small brads used to hold panels in place until wood glue cures. I have purchased the Parts Express 250W subwoofer Amp (P/N 300-794), the port tubes, 64 oz. polystuff and the 15" Tempest woofer from Adire Audio. All panels are machined/mitred and fit perfectly like a puzzle and then siliconed all interior corners, seams and braces. Should have completely assembled and running by next weekend. Does anyone have any experience with DIY subs or specifically with the Tempest 15" driver in the ADIRE 214L alignment??? I am interested in feedback and what I can expect from this baby....Will it put my Klipsch KSW-15 to shame?? Per the plans it is/will be tuned to 15.4Hz. Stay tuned for pics and feedback.....Any and all comments welcome Brett
  19. I have two broken 5 way binding posts, one on a KLF-C7 and the other on one of my Chorus II speaker....I tried Radio sahck for a repair but theirs are a hair (3-5MM) too long and hit the board/crossover on the inside of the C7 terminal cup. Can I order two pairs (two red & two black) of Klipsch OEM equipment 5 way binding posts? My C7 is setting on a small stand on the floor of my stage and the kids knocked over backwards breaking one of the posts....The Chorus II has one that the plastic part was broken when I took ownership. Please help, Thanks, Brett
  20. Just wondering if the RS-7's would be a good replacement or alternative to the rare and much sought after KSP-S6's? I own two pairs of the KSP-S6's and one pair is used with KLF-30's and a C7 and the other pair is used with a pair of Chorus II's and a C7. Any thoughts on speaker/timbre matching? Or has anyone A/B'd these against each other. Just reading the spec sheet the RS-7's look pretty darn good at 98dB and the Bass reflex design compared to the S6's 94dB and no bass reflex. Also the response for the Rs-7's is rated down to 49Hz and the S6's are rated to 60Hz. I do own the S6's and love the WDST technology but I wanted to get comments from other Klipscsh members or forum moderators. I may have an opportunity to trade a pair of RS-7's for S6's.
  21. Speaking of the NY Times, a former speech writer for Clinton has accepted the position of Editorial writer at the Liberal HQ/NY Times.....Puhlease...The irony of THAT. Who was it earlier in this thread that didn't think the mainstream media was run by Liberals? Cybergeek/Forest---Don't take the bait!!!!! This thread is a complete trap and the subject-heading alone should have prompted LNE937-ScaryLarry's eviction notice from the Klipsch Board. You poor Tom Daschle, Dickie Gephardt, Al gore lovin' pinheads are the anchors dragging behind the boat. Scare tactics, fear and the sky is falling is what you preach and this thread is a perfect example of the attention/audience you so desire. Forest/Cyber---The fool keeps talking, the wise man knows when to stop....Don't eat the liberal sour grapes!! Keep the thread open...just don't respond to this BS anymore. No censorship...Let Larry reap what he has sowed. ------------------
  22. Crash- You hit the nail right on the head with your own anticipation of "liberal flunkie" comments.... FMLA- 6 months paid and you want to increase it??!!!! What the hell!! I'm sending my wife back to work and then getting her pregnant once a year from now on until I shoot blanks. Adopt that plan and every inner-city, under-privleged mother will be going to work for the FMLA benefits and I guarnatee the average family size and birth rate will increase. Once again, your good intentions in theory, will go further to cripple our businesses and economy and do more to increase females getting pregnant at work. The under privileged will use this like the welfare system. Reward single mothers to have more kids....great idea. ARE YOU SERIOUS! Very simple: Incentives matter. You are rewarding (by paying for six months off) females/males to have more kids. Not that more kids are bad, I believe in big families but you want someone else (business, taxpayers, fellow employees) to foot the bill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Employee at will is the only thing left holding our economy together, without it Unions and lawsuits will be rampant. Collective bargaining, get ready, you can't fire me without just cause........How about this for just cause....your lazy! The common theme here continues to be redistribute wealth until there is no poor, there is no rich and we are all economically equal and reliant on the government for our well-being. Some government is good and required for roads, defense, basic laws but you guys want to hand over the keys to your life or at least try and hand over mine. Must we go on?? Let's call a truce and agree that we're all hopelessly doomed to disagree here and go back to big amps, big speakers and big (insert your favorite word here). This thread must be stopped!!! Scary Larry- Like an arsonist, I hold you personally responsible for starting this blazing thread. You are the equivalent of a person inciting a riot. May you feel like the coward you are. ------------------
  23. Jwadd21- I agree with Colabear, I own the KLf-30's and listened to them side by side with the RF-3II's and to me it was no contest.....Legends all the way. I love live music, percussion, horns, piano and acoustic guitar and the KLF-30's made my Dave Matthews and Santana CD's come to life and make me feel as if I was at the concert again. To me, it's an obvious choice. LEGENDS!!! ------------------
  24. Wes...Congrats on your new K-Horns...I didn't know you got them...they are new (to you) aren't they?? You have quite the Klipsch collection now, I am glad I got to see it personally! If you haven't seen, please look at my link below and you will see that I completely refinished the Chorus II's and C7 to a Black Satin finish. I also replaced the brown burlap original speaker cloth with new traditional black material and re-attached the Klipsch logo's. They look like factory new and sound the same!!! I couldn't be happier with them. I just don't know which I like better my KLF-30's or Chorus II's. Someday I will own a pair of K-Horns but right now just too many big speakers as it is! Brett ------------------
  25. I love cats, they taste just like chicken ;-) ------------------
