  1. Pickey, I watched the first two periods and then called it a night. Based the ways both goaltenders were playing I figured it would go into overtime. First period, lots of missed opportunities on both sides, but also great goaltending from both sides. I do agree, that CuJo was key in this series, but as you said he cannot score goals. If it wasn't for Eddies' performance on Sunday night, I could say the same thing about the Leafs. It is almost like both teams have "too much" talent and they rely too heavily on the other players. We'll see what happens tonight, Leafs WILL show up and I hope Eddie does too. They have to get the first goal, as they have only won one game from behind during the playoffs. Esch is suppose to be in net, but looks to be a game time decsion, then again Burke is not a bad back up at all. Pilar is filling in for Klee and Newey and Sundin better be on their game, and Almo is finally getting conforatable. Look for the big hits from McCabe, Tucker and Domi! GO LEAFS GO!!!!
  2. There was a Leafs game on last night? I missed it! Oh thats right that was when Eddie gave up 6 goals on 18 shots! I could stand in that net with pads and never move and stop more than 12 of 18 shots. Very poor game for the Leafs last night, but they looked great Wednesday and Friday. Hopefully they will pull thorugh tomorrow night at home and no Esch in net. Wings gotta pull through tonight....
  3. Pickey, I am glad you agree, that series was "THE BEST" Series I have seen. As for the other posts, The Tigers do suck, but I live in Pittsburgh and the Pirates are worse. We are now a minor leauge team that developes players and then send them off to other teams because our freekin city is bankrupt and can't aford to pay them. Oh yea we also have the Penguins, who are just as bad as a minor leauge hockey team, except we have the great Lemieux who only still plays because the city owes him millions. As for the Nieminen incident, I am not taking the Wings side and I am not taking the Flames side, I am just going to state what I have seen. In this series the officials allow these players to crash the net, and the goalies do not say or do anything unless it happend after 10 times. Watch the Leafs game tonight, if any player touches Eddie in the net, Eddie will go nuts. Yet in both series the officals allow this crap to happen, and allow it to get out of hand. If they would do their freekin job and call penalties as they should, we things like the incident with Nieminen would not happen. I understand that this is "Play-off" hockey and let them play, but how many hig-sticks do need on Tucker, Domi, and even Brasher to get a call. Before you needed to draw blood for a 5 min major, now it is a 2 min minor. This is why Nieminen can do what he does so many times and then finally get called for it. He should have been called for it many, many times earlier. My theory is that if you touch the goalie in the crease it should be a 2 min minor. My 2 cents... GO LEAFS GO
  4. Picky, Detroit and Phili in '97 huh... That was pretty good, but the one that stands out the most was Detroit and Colorado in 97. I have never seen so many fights, blood, and teams taking a beating ever in a series in my life. I remember this series distinctly as I was studying for Finals. Incredible, I wonder if I could get that series on DVD or Tape, I watch ESPN Classics occasionally and have never seen it. Your Wings looked good in the 3rd, but horrible in the 2nd. Hopefully the Leafs will pull through tonight, anyway we get to watch them in HD on Sunday. Go LEAFS GO!!
  5. Alright guys, I need some help. I was watching my beloved Leafs beat the Flyers last night (and man did they look good!!!) and a friend of mine and I got into a discussion. Now I have been a Leafs fan for probably close to 20 some years and have only really followed hockey and the players for the past 15 years. Here is my question, and I already have my answers... In the past 15 years what has been the "BEST" playoff series in the NHL? Includes goals, fights, everything. Picky you may be with me on my pick, but I need to hear it first....
  6. Picky, Also as I am a Comcast subscriber, any word of any other HD channels added to the line up aside from their current: ABC, CBS, PBS, ESPN, Shoetime, HBO, and Cinemax? Rumor has in by Fall of 2004 they are adding Fox-HD and TNT-HD but I cannot get any confirmation. Next, take a look at Microsoft's website for some HD content. There are about 7 or 8 many that are used for IMAX, they are incredible. A friend of mine downloaded them to his HTPC (yet another reason to get one of those), and they are the MOST amazing picture I have EVER seen! Wings: 2 man advantage, for 6 sec and GOAL...these Wings don't look that bad on Power Plays come on now.....4-1 Detroit Has for Hasek and CuJo, Hasek retired and then returned, CuJo said..."I want to win a Cup and I want to play for a team the can win me a cup". Obviously the team who made him who he is can't win him a cup, so I would love to see the Leafs and Wings in the Finals. Till them the Leafs better show up tomorrow night...... WOW, now it's 5-1 Detroit....
  7. Lots of catch up to do here, Jabez - I agree I think the Leafs in 6 as well, I just want to see more pressure from the Leafs on offense, which I saw last night. Don't get me wrong I love my mighty Leafs! BTW, what is up with Mats, I heard ankle, knee, and thigh? I would love to see the Leafs and Wings, sorry Picky I have some dislikes towards CuJo and I am sure you know why.... Pickey - I do agree, I think it is just the limitation of the LCD (black levels), I suppose that it is something that I have to live with. After all it isn't a CRT that I am use to. As far as SD (Standard Definition), DTV (Digital Television), and HDTV (High-Definition). This is what I learned, and I could be wrong, if so please correct me as I am new to all of this. My SD channels are the channels that I get with regular cable (channels 2-65 or what ever), my DTV channels are those above 65 or whatever. I can notice a difference between these two types of channels. DTV channels are a little more cleaner and crisper than SD channels, but I could also be on crack and am imagining these things. As for the HD Channels that I get ABC, CBS, and ESPN, these three say the are in High-Definition, but I look at it as if they are HD-Ready. Meaning if any content that is "Broadcast" in HD it will come in HD, otherwise I think it may just upconvert the signal or something, but is definatly not HD. DHP - on my TV I get blurriness if the game in not in HD. Again I think it is a limitation to the LCD, in that it cannot display the image through the pixels on the screen fast enough before the image changes. Is this what you are talking about?
  8. DTV, I thought meant Digital Television, but I could be wrong. Picky, What happened last night? I watched a little of the first period and the Wings were dominating the whole game? Not too sure about this Leafs series, Leafs actually looked good last night, and the Flyers looked very average. IMO, Ottawa is a better team, but Philly is so good with the stick. From the looks of this series and every other playoff series, even when the Leafs had CUJO they rely too much on goal-tending, and they always have. If the Leafs think Eddie is going to win them this Cup, they are going to have a rude awaking on Tuesday when they are down 3 games to 0.
  9. picky, I am very happy with my GWii, HD looks amazing, and so does DVD's, my only complaint is DTV, it sucks. It literally gives me a headache to watch it. I have talked to an number of people and they all say, that is what DTV looks like on a LCD that is 50", you just notice it much more since you are comparing it with HD. I don't buy it, there HAS to be a way to improve the pq for DTV on my LCD. I have calibrated the GWii to specs that people have posted on AVS and it looks better, but nothing like it did on my CRT. Initially black levels were poor, especially noticable between HD, DVD, and XBOX, a little playing around with it and all is good. Ideally (if I had an extra $4K laying around), I would like to get the 50" Samsung DLP and compare it next to the Sony and see if there is a difference. Everyone I talk to says that DTV looks great on their DLP, not sure if I buy that or not. All in all I am very happy with it. HD looks great, and that is the reason why I bought it. The GW's at CC are GWiii's and I have heard a lot of problems with them, that is why BB no longer carries them, just an fyi. But yea anything in 720p and up looks outstanding!
  10. Yea, it has been 36 years since the leafs last won. The only team that has waited longer for are the Blackhawks. In fact I think the last time the Leafs won, was the last year when it was the original 6. They did, look great last night, I hope the momentum sticks with them as they will need it on a very well rested, pollished, physical Philly team. Hopefully Mats and Nolan will return. I do agree that Domi looked awesome, he has the past three games and for a while there was the only leafs who was doing anything....not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. We'll see tomorrow night!
  11. Bring on the Flyers!!! Leafs finally got things together last night to advance against the Flyers. This is looking to be a great race for the cup! GO LEAFS GO!!
  12. Well I have to say, the Wings looked very, very good this weekend. I cannot say the same for my Leafs. They look very slow, weak and tired and it is just the begining. If it wasn't for Eddie they would be out by not, so needless to say I am very nervous for Tuesdays game. ESPN is finally covering the Leafs/Sens games, so I am happy now.
  13. Boomer, Thanks for the useless bit of information regarding my question. The Oilers had a great year this year...nothing worse than falling short a few games to get in the playoffs. And, Oh you will be watching the Leafs in the Stanley Cup Finals!
  14. Does anyone know how I can get the NHL Center Ice package? I have comcast cable and they have pretty much told me that I am SOL since I didn't sign up before March 15th for the half year package. So far the only way I know how to get the playoffs is to sign up for the whole season next year which is a total of $159 if I want to see my mighty Leafs in the first two rounds. Any suggestions...thanks! JAG
  15. I love my Yammy with my Klipsch!! I am on my second Yamaha receiver, and have not been disapointed yet! I am sure you will like the combo!!
  16. So my only option at this point is to get him a higher end stand-alone DVD-R, and have him connect it to his VCR by means of S-Video if posisble. I guess the reason why I am having a difficult time finding one of these units is because they don't make one?
  17. Any suggestions? I can't really find any of these things out there. A dear friend of mine is retiring, and his wife mentioned that he really wanted a DVD-R that he could convert home movies that were on VHS to DVD. Can anyone give me any suggestions, recomondations, or where I can find these things at? Also what is the price range of these units, as alway any and all help is appreciated! TIA! JAG
  18. I would go with Dell, check out http://www.gotapex.com they always have some sweet deals on Dell's. About 3 weeks ago I picked up a Dell 2400, 256MB RAM, 2.3 P4 Processor, Dual Drives DVD and CD-R, 40GB HD and 17" Monitor for $349 shipped and after rebates and taxes! Not the best computer, but for the price I am yet to see a better deal. I will be adding a better graphics card, a Tuner PCI Card, and a nice 250GB HD as well. Check out the site, they are alway having crazy deals!!
  19. Roger and Cindy, Congratulations on a beautiful baby girl! Best wishes to you and your new addition to your family! JAG
  20. Colin, I have a KV-3 matched with my KG-4's and IMO, I am very, very happy with the sound they produce togehter. I have never heard the Forte's matched with the KV-3, but have only heard great things. Either way you go, you should be fine, I think the KV-3 will be a good match for any of the KG line or Forte's.
  21. Welcome to the forum!!! I have a Yamaha RX-V2095, I got it second hand off my father, and IMO it is a great receiver. You should be able to get one less than $500 on ebay. Very powerful receiver 5.1 surround and I think it is 100x5 plus two discrete front surrounds (50x2 I think). So it can handle 7 speakers total plus a subwoofer (but it is not a 7.1 receiver). IMO, it is a great receiver for the price, and I am sure I will hold on to it for a number of year. Take a look for the price it is a good deal, unless you want to buy new. Then I would look to pay around $500 for a nice Denon or H/K.

    KSW-12

I would take a look at HSU subwoofers. The are in the same price range, and are pretty impressive.
  23. If your budget is $2500, I would assume that the LCD's and DLP's would be out of the question. I guess the question should have been what is the best HDTV around $2500? Best of luck, I am sure you will find what you are looking for!
  24. I do agree with gcoker on this one. IMO, the 40" Sony XBR has the clearest, sharpest High Definition picture. I saw the 40" XBR, the 50" GWII and the 42" plasma side by side to one another when I was in Chicago about a year ago. Hands down the 40" XBR had the best picture. Now this is where the pros and cons come into play. The 40" XBR is something around 300 lbs (correct me if I am wrong), and it does not come in a widescreen (16:9), and it does not come bigger than 40". With that said I turned my attention to the plasma...great picture, 80 lbs, but the issue here was potential burn-in, pixels losing gas, and loss of picture over time. Which made me choose the Grand Wega. No signs of burn-in about 110 lbs, 16:9, and HD looks great. But as gcoker stated earlier and I will agree, I am yet to see a television that can produce a finer picture than the 40" Sony XBR.
  25. I am going to say the Sony Grand Wega or the Samsung DLP. Both are great units, I went with the Grand Wega II because I prefer LCD over DLP and I got a great price on it. I would be carefull as the GWIII has had many issues with them, BB pulled them from their stores, but CC still sells them. HDTV looks great on the Grand Wega, DVD's looks great, however IMO regular DTV looks poor. Again, just one of the pros and cons that you will encounter. Do you homework on the pros and cons, and determine what issues if any the TV has encountered. Don't necessarily listen to what people say and advise, what appeals to you and your eye will appeal differntly to others. Most importantly, once you make the purchase don't look back...you made a good investment and a good choice dispite what others think and say.
