  1. Chris... happy to see your room finally getting underway. It was only a matter of time that someone here matched horn mains with the Danley sub. Are these pictures current and have you received the DTS-20? [] My neighbour (detached homes...) *politely* mentioned he can hear my basement system with both our windows closed... so I may have to try your volume knob trick too... ROb
  2. Bob.... I was hoping you were going to chime in. Right now, my mains (actually all 6 channels) are using the K77.... so I figured keeping it matched. No tap change then? I'll have to check my parts bin... ROb PS: Bob... sending you an Email
  3. You're right that my initial text isn't clear... as i was refering to Cornscala's built by others (not myself). I'm using Klipschorns as mains (typical AA)... and Cornwall and Heresy surrounds. The centre Heresy i have just doesn't cut it... ROb EDIT: are the typical Cornwall crossovers (B1, B2, B3) good enough for the larger (more efficient?) K400 horn?
  4. speakerfritz, great photo essay... I hear Jub's are next on your list... []
  5. Ok... I'm beginning to plan out my centre channel which will be basically similar to the other Cornscala's (single bass bin) which have built using the Klipsch K400 style horn. What's the consensus on the x-over and x-over points? Is custom the only way to go and any schematics? Yeah... my mind has been elsewhere and I'm too lazy to search through all the posts... [:$] ROb
  6. What were you using as a preamp? Some older Rotel preamps had an issue at low volumes with high efficiency speakers...
  7. Well... we are the ones who actually thankful you shared it with us. Looking foward to more details on the final configuration you are using and seeing some sharper pics. ROb
  8. Congrat's Roy.... IMHO, engineers like you help give Klipsch their credibility... Not to sound like a su¢k up myself... but yeah, how young were you? I'm aiming early 20's... ROb
  9. I missed that in my initial reply... but the others are right in saying it won't match your PM 2.1's enclosure, tuning, and EQ. It'll sound different but definitely not better. If the original driver is blown... get the Klipsch replacement. If you want to improve your PM's performance... add a new sub for the lowest frequencies and run the 2.1's through a highpass filter. ROb
  10. Although originally a well respected company, there has been some discussion online to their drivers meeting published T/S parameters as well as quality following ED's change of ownership. I can't prove or disprove any of these rumours... but you could look them up on several car audio forums... to see what I'm referring to. ROb
  11. Yup... there is... but personally would like to rotate the whole HT Seat Set on rare occasions so it would face the room with it's back against the sidewall. Have you tried moving (sliding) them around as a single lot? (Carpet or hard wood?) Or do you really have to disassemble the grouping to do so. How hard is that? Getting a regular recliner sofa is an option, but I would loose a place (6 vs 7) and only the two end places recline. OTOH... it would be less expensive I figured that much... and it's easy to move around to boot... [] ROb
  12. Yeah, I realise there is no magic answer... but the feedback so far is great. A little more background information.... I agree that having no separation (arms) between some seats is better for cuddling, and I was looking four-seat combo, which would consist of a love seat in the middle attached to two single chairs on either end. Yes, I am a hopeless romantic... My room is 16ft wide... so I figured 10' front row would be reasonable... and the above combo was about 8" over that with wedge arms. I'll be reusing the ugly sofa in the pics as a rear seat BTW... which would give room for about 7 people in a single sitting. I won't be building a platform for it, given it would be difficult to store... but I do have a concept (in my head) to raise the sofa. I also mentioned ease to move around, simply because I do use my room for other gatherings for which I don't need 10' wide seating facing the wall.[] Any of you guys move your "seating" around once it was set up? I tried the electric recliners.... and the infinite adjustability is really nice, but so is the price tag that goes with them. Several manual ones I tried did seem to have infinite positions too (think simple glider), but no locked positions. In other words they seem to depend on how you sit in them... how does that feel after a couple of hours? ROb
  13. Just looking for some feed back on home theatre seating... I started looking around and have not even decided on whether to go with specialised HT seats, regular recliners, or regular sofas. Each has it's advantages and disadvantages... specialised HT seats: great comfort, most flexible, costliest, and hardest to move around regular recliners: great comfort, mid priced, and easier to move around regular sofas: less comfort, least expensive, and easy to move around I've looked at Palliser's Derrick series, and Jaymar's 151 (?) series... as both these are Canadian made and will cost me less than a similar product from Lane or the like. I'm just looking for general feedback on manual vs electric... mircofibre vs leather.... black vs red.... and HT seating vs regular seating... etc... What are you guys using... and what do like or dislike about it? ROb PS: if i go speciallised HT seating it would be in a 1-2-1 layout
  14. Mike is talking about purely flushmounting... In simple terms, the bass response will increase due to focusing (using the ceiling in this case) those frequencies on axis. In other words... you are recuperating the bass which would normally wrap backwards around the Heresy by modifying it's polar response. The horn mids and highs already are more focused so they are less affected than the bass. ROb
  15. [:$] .... thought it was supposed to send me an email notification if i got one... just did...
  16. hmmm... single digit... that's primary school for most of us and way too young in either case... [+o(] but I guess things are a little different in Arkansas. As Sputnik would say... " where men are men and sheep are lying little tramps"... []
  17. Mike you know engineering is more than just crunching numbers... I say hit the weight room and help Roy flip those puppies around....
  18. I was wondering the same thing... perhaps was spawned by the movie "Duel"?
  19. and the front of the card... if it really makes a difference... []
  20. Yup... got it with my Pany as well... unfortunately it clearly says valid anywhere in the USA on the back. Blockbuster Inc and Blockbuster Canada Inc are actually two separate companies... that share certain expenses (marketing, etc...) That is really nice to know... guess it should add to it's appeal. Mine arrived in the mail early this week BTW... Here is the back of the card... (i'm the one who blacked out part of the image)... ROb

  22. Ok guys i thought i'd offer this up here... I got a Blockbuster card valid for 40 rentals between now and the 04/02/07... but the problem is my local Canadian Blockbuster won't accept it. It has no name on it and hasn't been registered in any way. I realise it's not worth it's advertised 200$ value.... but I'm open to offers of any kind. I am looking to build a CornScala type centre... but feel free to post anything here. ROb
  23. If you guys are using them as subs, this would be a mute point given the wave length of a 80Hz and lower tones.
  24. I agree, and have seen it first hand... happiness comes from within.
