  1. I also second the Harmony line. I have the 880 and it works great as far as a system controller is concerned. In your price range, the 659 is also a great functioning remote. We demo it at Best Buy.
  2. I'd say about a foot or two above your ear when you're sitting down would be pretty ideal.
  3. It's not really that noticable. The biggest difference is the obvious dust caps but give the look of it all, they match very well. Ancientdude: I only have one of them with me this year. I gave the other two for my dad to use in his system at home until I get out of college and actually have a use for more than one (if there really is a use for three). I do have a photo taken last year when I had them set up in my old apartment.
  4. Yep, it fit all around. I have the 7's set as large and the center set as small crossed over at 80 hz, but it sounds great. Very smooth, very tight. Here's what my front looks like now.
  5. Man this thing is massive! Fortunately it isn't overly tall so I barely squeezed it into the top shelf of my TV stand. I got a decent deal of $750 from the dealer given that it was my first time shopping there, but I can already say it was well worth it. After I get a chance to do some more listening tomorrow at higher volumes, I'll let you know what I think overall. One more quick side note, I'm pairing this center with RF-7's and they seem to match really well so far.
  6. Good stuff. Congrats on getting the TV that practically everyone salivates over in that store. But as a side note, I also live at The Pointe. I didn't realize we had any other forum members here.
  7. Hey mtber101, Just curious here, but you wouldn't happen to live at The Pointe in State College would you? (I ask because that furniture all looks very familliar... That and the fact that we just moved our 40" Bravia display at Best Buy.)
  8. This is me hanging out at my aparment with a few friends about a month ago. I'm the guy in the blue shirt.
  9. Well if you think about it an organ is nothing more than an instrument. Sure they're used in churces, but concert halls also have them as well as (apparently) a crapload of Japanese department stores. I don't think I'd directly link them to churches.
  10. All I can say is wow. My friends and I have been on a road trip for the past week (PA to Florida and back) and we spent the day in downtown Philadelphia today. While there, we dropped in on the Lord & Taylor Store for the noon concert. The aesthetics of the organ itself were pretty impressive, but the amount of power, smoothness and clarity is simply unmatched by any other instrument I have ever heard. As an added bonus, the larger pipe ranks cut through your chest like you wouldn't believe. I also liked the organ's ability to play the quieter passages with clarity while still being able to bellow out the powerful movements. Honestly, I cannot recommend *edit* enough *edit* stopping in for a listen yourself if you like pipe organs and you're in the Philadelphia area. They always have two daily concerts so catch one in the early afternoon or evening. Unfortunately I didn't recognize all the pieces played so I am not able to give a piece by piece breakdown.
  11. Hey Guys, I have a PureA/V PF31 power console for sale. I originally intended to use it for a neighbor's living room that never came to be, but I got it directly from PureA/V at their affiliate price so I'm going to pass that along to whoever wants to take a crack at it. The selling price is $188 + shipping cost. This one beats the ever living crap out of anything that monster power offers (IMO). If you want more information, check out the product page here. PM me if you're interested.
  12. I actually bought my JVC D-ILA set from them. The TV came as promised in good condition. That being said, (and this is no fault of Butterfly Photo) the TV was transported on its side. Anyone who knows about plasmas know it is a very bad thing when they are placed on their front or back (essentially the screen is destroyed). For that reason I'd be somewhat nervous about getting a plasma display shipped to you from any web dealer. Besides, take the ad in from one of the web sites. More than likely (if you don't get a manager that's an ***) they'll be willing to work with you on the price. My Best Buy does it all the time.
  13. I honestly think this whole waiver thing is a piece of crap. My parents are going through this but the problem is, they live in an area where HD reception is not possible without the dish feeds. Fox and CBS were nice enough to give us the waiver, but the others said no. So now basically not only are we not watching the national feeds, but we're not watching the network at all.
  14. What about B-3s and a C-2? These are from the Synergy line but they're really nice.
  15. Jay, where are you located? I actually have a pair of Cornwall I's for sale. I'm located in State College, PA (PSU). Let me know if you're interested.
  16. It also depends on what brand you buy. For example, Zenith and Magnevox plasmas have a much shorter half-life (around 10 years) vs. the Pioneer, LG and Panasonic plasmas which do have a 17-18 year half life. As an added bonus, Pioneer builds an "orbital shifting" program into their plasma displays that will rotate channel ID bugs in a circular pattern to avoid image retention. Now, if only I had the money...
  17. Nope, the Motorola pulls all it's data off the cable line. I actually have both just for High Def and the Tivo for SD in my bedroom. The Motorola's user interface is awful in comparison to that of the Tivo. On top of that, I've found that the Motorola actually is prone to missing recordings on a semi-regular basis (I can't get it to record seasons of House for the life of me). But yes, I love my Tivo. And also the new Series 3 Tivos are going to be coming out at the end of the year and those feature recording of two channels simultaneously and HD decoding/recording.
  18. With the LCD and plasma sets you're paying for the convenience of a TV you can hang on the wall (and in terms of plasma, a picture that cannot be beat by any other currently available display technology IMO). Sure it may not last as long as a tube, but I honestly couldn't care less. By the time a Pioneer Plasma goes out the window, I'm fairly sure we'll either have holographic projection or at least something along the lines of 96,000 x 54,000p. As Fry from Futurama put it when asked why he didn't want to go out, "But this is HDTV. It has better resolution than real life."
  19. Somewhere around March I believe.
  20. A cheaper option would be to add an external sound card. I know Creative makes a few nice options and would keep you from having to replace your motherboard. On top of that, the external card more than likely will have better quality sound output.
  21. Hmmmm... I smell a backup forum account. Anyway regardless of that, how are you deriving your conclusions based on the size of the compression driver? First of all you do realize that the Cornwall had a 1" compression driver on the high end. And on top of that, the mother of all PWK creations was the 2-way Jubilee. I'm not making any judgments right now because I haven't heard the system. Aesthetically speaking I think they look great, but that's just me. So how about you Save Your Opinions until you actually sit down and listen to it, m'kay?
  22. I have a question for any Klipsch employees (perhaps primarily Bob because I know he's been doing some in home trials): How does the voicing of the new flagship center compare to an RF-7? I'm soon in the market for a center and I've been basically drooling over the new mamoth you guys have created but I think I'd rather have an RC-7 if there are going to be noticable timbre issues.
  23. I'd be VERY careful about ordering a plasma over the Internet. Not because of the danger of the company ripping you off, but rather the danger of the shipping company mishandling the television. This includes resting the set on its side. If and when a shipper does this, the colors can get all out of whack and you really won't be able to tell until you power the set on.
