  1. I bought this amplifier new from a friend 2 months ago, I broke the original box seal myself, and set it up with my Klipsch La Scalla II's II. I truly loved the sound, but I felt I would have to buy a matching tube pre amp for it, and do not want to spend the money. Decided to go with an Integrated PrimaLuna Dialogue HP (tubes) and Although the MC275 sounded better with the La Scalla's, the PL is a bit more functional for my situation I have less then 30 hours conservatively speaking of use on it. it works great. I have all original boxes and accessories, it works like a champ. Nothing has been changed on it, just plugged it and connected to my speakers. Hope someone will find a loving home for this beautiful baby. It is worth every penny you pay for it. Pm if interested. Pictures to follow soon.
  2. I'm a newbie, going to pickup 70's La Scalas this weekend, and I have no idea where to start with amps. The La Scalas will be in the basement (18' x 13' x 7'), and I'll be about 15' from them in my sitting area (they have to go in the short ends of the room rectangle due to built in shelving along the long wall). I recently purchased Cornwalls, and have an SG Jolida tube amp that I really like. Any recommendations on pairing the right amp/tube amp with the La Scalas?
  3. Just received notice from McIntosh Labs that the MC275 received the 2017 Editor's Choice award for 2017. I certainly am enchanted with mine. http://www.mcintoshlabs.com/us/Brand/Pages/NewsDetails.aspx?NewsID=228&Block=1
  4. Is it safe to run two sets of speakers on a Fisher 400 using a Passive Switch Box (with protection) like the one in the picture? One set of speakers would be vintage Grundig's (see photo) from the 1960's that I believe are 6 ohms. The second set of speakers would be a passive Pioneer S-W33 Subwoofer (see photo) that is 8 ohms with duel speaker inputs. If it is safe, do I run the Fisher 400 in 8 ohm or 4 ohm mode? Thanks, Mike
  5. Do low wattage Tube Amplifiers sound better then higher wattage Tube Amplifiers? I am thinking the sound stage of my old rusty stock Dynakit ST70 sounded more three dimensional then my new highly modified Dynaco MKIII Monoblocks that has newer tubes and better everything else inside. Am I crazy? I also talked to someone that swears the McIntosh MC225 sounds better the 240 or famously popular 275. Plus I'm seeing a couple quality amp builders (tubenirvana.net and ampsandsound.com) selling some very low wattage amps. Would love to hear some general opinions, as well as opinion on the best amps to pair with Heresy II and Forte II's for listening to in a condo at normal to lower volumes. Last, say you're doing biamp configuration and only using the tube power to run squawkers/tweeters on Heresy II's or Forte II's, what's the ideal amp for that? Cheers Mike
