mizedog
For the time being, I'll be using my old Synergy speakers (see sig) but need some mains. I have an opportunity to buy a pair of KM6s. Would they sound ok with my SC-1 center or blow it away? My HT room is about 13'x17.5' w/ 7'6" ceilings. Other than these, I'm considering some old Heresys, or RB 81s. Thoughts? jamesV
I would say that whichever speakers out of the three will overpower your current center. That said you are looking at three different categories plus you have a fourth currently, each category has a specific sound. Which sound do you prefer? SilverSport
if you can afford them...KM6s (Military PX or similar sold KG 5.5s) are a STEAL at $200 if in nice condition...34Hz is mighty low for a full range speaker and they sound nice...at least I think so...good luck. tommyboy
Not sure if this will help you out or not, but I had the KMC center, (matching one for the KM6), with my synergy SF1's and it sounded great!
tommyboy
and yes, 200 for them is a good deal if they're in good condition
mizedog
Great info. Thanks. Next question: Do you think these would be too small for a 13x17.5 foot room? I do expect I'll need bass traps..
tommyboy
No your room isn't too small......
SilverSport
Have you seen the KG 5.5s???...they go down to 34Hz with authority and have 2 10" woofers (not a passive)...tall and heavy speakers... Bill
mizedog
Oops. I meant "would they be too big for my room"? I also wonder if the SC-1 would get burried and not heard at all. I'm tempted to get these - even though I've read the glue joints can fail causing a rattle.

mizedog
never...NEVER!!!... Bill Maybe you're right. I'm a bass player and have used huge stacks at house parties. I just turned it down when necessary (unusual). It is nice to see your pants wave in the breeze of a 15", 4x10s and two horns pushed by 300 - 500 watts. I miss my Ampeg! tommyboy
I think your SC1 will do fine with them....... Just about the same freq responce, and the SC1 is only 25 watts stronger than the matching KMC.... No need for a new center http://www.klipsch.com/products/discontinued/details/sc-1.aspx http://www.klipsch.com/products/discontinued/details/km-c.aspx
