RT FAN
Quick question about staining my raw oak Heresy II cabinets. I picked up some Howard Feed 'n Wax and some Watco Danish oil natural stain. The question is should I hit the cabinets with the Howards first and then leave it on for a week, before staining them or the other way around? They are essentially untouched since I had them delivered. Thanks for any replies from the DIY crew, I would hate to make an error on my first go round. Guest " "
You should call them. The feed n wax has waxes as well as oils in it. I'm not sure how well the orange oil will mi/coexist with Watco.
RT FAN
Thanks Speakerfritz, I sent Howards an email and am awaiting a response.
Daddy Dee
I'm not familiar with the Howard product, but you would want to be careful not to use anything that would seal or partially seal the wood pores. I would do the stain first. You can apply it lightly with a diaper or soft cloth and wipe it off with more applications if you want a darker finish. Groomlakearea51
You should stain, dye, or seal first; then apply protective oils and other finish preservative products, etc.
RT FAN
Thanks guys, it makes sense to stain them first before applying a wax product to the wood. I'll let you know how they come out, probably get to them over the 3 day weeknd.
