Anybody use bass shakers here. My review.

T-man: I sold the 2.2's because I wanted big rear speakers. The 4.2's will be a better match for tone quality than the 2.2's were.

As far as the amp's I can tell you that the samson is much more musical (tighter). The Samson can control the woofer with ease. Thus less distortion. The pioneer amp on the other hand was just the opposite. It had the power to shake the house but alot of that was distortion. not musical at all.

To be honest I'm still not where I want to be with bass yet. I'm really thinking about upgrading to the new driver from SVS for $129. With the trade in option, it really sounds like a good deal.

Well I must say I had never heard of these Bass shakers (so I must be the ultimate audiophile - right - or an ignorant SOB) but it seems like cracking good fun to me.

FWIW Bass without a decent spl is just too weird in my book. It is one of the main reasons I wouldnt buy my friends Quad 989 ESL speakers. They go deep but its more like a pair of headphones than a pair of speakers.

Last night I put a test tone of down to 21 Hz through my sub. SPL a plenty - no idea how much (no meter) but it cost us one vase.

With a bass shaker I could get the same effect and save on the ornaments - seems like a bargain to me - where do I get one?

Max - Careful! You're treading on thin ice -- you might have your audiophile card revoked Smile.gif Look for them on Ebay or at www.partsexpress.com. They are Aura Bass Shakers. There are both powered and non-powered versions, it seems. Mine came with their own 25-watt amps, which sit on the floor beneath the couch.

Both my audiophile and my bass-shaker cards revoked. wow - bad day for me!!

Fortunately I operate a simple rule which is that I will never join any club that would have someone like me as a member (apologies to Groucho Marks for the misquote).

Wait a minute - I am a member here - uh oh...
