johnny_fever
Thanks for everyones help on my K-Horn hum post. Changed amp & the hum is gone. Now that I have had some time to audition The K's properly I can hear something funny coming from the tweeters. Sounds like a rip or torn paper/plastic cone. Words with the letter S sound worse. Do the diaphragms tear or break? Can anyone tell me the man date? Ser # 265394578 Thanks Rick
Groomlakearea51
Diaphragms get old and brittle; can sound "harsh" and lose definition.
Daddy Dee
Johnny, Yes. Sounds like a simple diaphragm replacement is needed. Is that a serial number on the driver? If it's original to the speaker, the man date is easier to find with the speaker serial number.
johnny_fever
Thanks guys, That is the speaker ser #'. So what do the diaphragms cost? It sometimes sounds like a rattle. Thanks Rick

colterphoto1
It's an easy fix Johnny. You need a phillips head screwdriver. That's it.

djk
"You need a phillips head screwdriver. That's it. " Wow, you can solder and unsolder it with a screwdriver?
colterphoto1
No solder needed to replace a K77M tweeter diaphragm if you get the mounted diaphragm from Klipsch. I've done it a dozen times.
djk
So do you put push-on terminals on the wire? I've never seen a K77 in a Klipsch speaker that didn't have the wire to the network soldered at the tweeter end.
colterphoto1
yeah, Amp terminals would work easily for someone without soldering iron. I prefer to solder but it's not necessary. A light crimp with needlenose pliers on the slip-on connector once it's attached will keep the attachment firm.
