CF 3

I am interested in purchasing a pair of cf3s and the seller said they are version 2. Could someone illuminate the subject, the difference between the two versions, and which is better if such applies and also what to look for in terms of known defects of this type if any? I appreciate your help.

Regards John

I have no knowledge of this speaker but a search on the site only pulls up one version.

As with any older speaker you want to make sure that the all the components are working. No major damage, water, dent, dings. If you are able to listen to them make sure you take a few cd's that you are familiar with. You might be able to hear something wrong with them.

Other then that good luck.

If my memory serves me correctly, I read that the CF3's did have more than one version. One change was the length of the ports but I do not remember which version was better. I believe it was the 2nd version but don't quote me. Not sure if they changed the crossover or not.

Now wasn't that a big help? [:P]

my understanding was partially the port size with Version 1s being the best to Roy Delgado's ears (after all they are his babies)...they sounded less like the Klipsch Family sound and were sometimes considered more audiophile than not...whatever that means...the later versions were more like the Klipsch Family sound but less unique...I also believe Roy prefers the original version...I missed out on an original version set in near mint in January but I learned some of this when looking into it...good luck...

Before my RF-83's, I bought a pair of CF-2's. Great speaker, sounded fantastic with a Harman Kardon receiver. So much detail and separation of musical instruments. I never got the chance to listen to the CF-3's or CF-4's.
