Fastlayne
I read a suggestion for shielded speaker cable is to connect the shield to the amp (receiver) ground. Will the ground connection for the AM antenna (not in use) work for this? Also, the IEC AC input on the receiver only has two blades, no ground. If the chassis is not connected to the AC ground, would this defeat any benefit of connecting the cable shield to the chassis?
wuzzzer
Are you getting some sort of interference with your speaker wires? That's pretty unusual I think, its more common with interconnects.
Guest " "
I can't imagine any senerio in which doing this would make any sense.....the shielding would be useful on wires that go from a given gain stage to a higher gain stage. Maybe it's more about fire protection in case you get a short in which case the short would go to ground...so from that perspective connecting to the case would make sense if the plug had a 3 prong cable...which you are indicating it does not...so once again..for your senerio...it would not make sense. Don Richard
Not necessary, If RF or EMI is getting into your system through speaker wire there are other issues that you need to address.
