winchester21
i have an Harmon Kardon 150 WPC 870 2ch SS power amp from the 80s that I am using to run my side/surrounds-Cornwalls. Used non stop for the last 20 years- left on all the time. The amp has like a gren/yellow warmup mode light and a red ready mode light. Recently I moved some stuff around- unplugged the unit- and it took like 15-20 minutes when I plugged it back in- for the amp to go from warmup mode to the (red) ready mode. Otherwise it works great- which would prompt me to leave it on all the time. Is this cause for concern???? Technical dumb@ - - here so sorry if this if this question hs a logical answer. Thoughts?????????????thanks in advance
Chris A
I had a Carver amp that did that after only a couple months of use. I took it in to the dealer. They worked on it within warranty. Their only reply when asked: "...you did the right thing bringing it in..." Chris
djk
The small electrolytic caps are all dried out and need to be replaced. http://manuals.harman.com/HK/service%20Manual/HK870%20sm.pdf
winchester21
Yep that is what I was afraid of. The amp is worth like 300.00. think it is worth fixing??
Roadbike
I'd say it was worth replacing the capacitors.
