gabriel11
Try the speakers in 2 speaker mode instead of four. The hiss will distortion/hiss (whatever) will more than likely disappear. Also move the fader settings around in Audigy Surround Mixer and see if that clears things up... My Audigy sounds awful when my fader is in the "default" centered setting, yet the speakers sound wonderful when I move the fader to front, back or left, right anywhere but centered. Let me know. I have the Audigy Gamer under Win XP Pro.
flyguy
I have the same problem with my audigy and speakers.... They sound great when I move to slider to either speaker, but at center, I get a bad crackle. I think its just in the front...
Leeb18509
And I will third that problem. So I guess I'm not crazy after all. Default fader position crackles, sliding fader up or down "clears" up sound. What gives? I just RMA'd my Audigy hoping to get a new one thinking that was it but now I'm not so sure? justin_tx_16
if moving a slider on your sound card software causes or removes this crackle, then the problem is not with the speakers. ------------------ -justin SoundWise Support A technical help site created by me and my fellow Klipschers I am an amateur, if it is professional; ProMedia help you want email Amy or call her @ 1-888-554-5665 or for an RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5 Klipsch Home Audio help you want, email support@klipsch.com or call @ 1-800-KLIPSCH RA# Fax Number=317-860-9140 / Parts Department Fax Number=317-860-9150s>
Leeb18509
How about if I removed the sound card completely and the problem still occurs? Like I did. Turning the surround up past "3" on the control pod makes all 4 speakers crackel. Turning it down makes it go away.
justin_tx_16
the surround past 3 o'clock? what the control pod main volume at? ------------------ -justin SoundWise Support A technical help site created by me and my fellow Klipschers I am an amateur, if it is professional; ProMedia help you want email Amy or call her @ 1-888-554-5665 or for an RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5 Klipsch Home Audio help you want, email support@klipsch.com or call @ 1-800-KLIPSCH RA# Fax Number=317-860-9140 / Parts Department Fax Number=317-860-9150s>
Leeb18509
No, not "3 o'clock". 3 as in all the way ccw is "0" and CW is "10". Since all the way off is about what? "7 o'clock"? It's kind of dumb to describe knob settings in that context don't you think? The volume has never been more than half way to maximum. I'm not talking about static at criminal volume levels, it happens at ALL volume levels. On board audio OR Audigy- same results. I'm open to suggestions. I need to hook up a CD player to the pod to check it that way. It seems to happen when you want to drive all 4 speakers at the same level. IE the default or "centered" fader setting or surround half way up. Control pod? Crossover? Amp? I'm open to suggestions. Thanks..Lee
justin_tx_16
ok, sorry but your not making sense. think of it this way. you are looking at the control pod. the knob on the far right you turn ALL the way to no sound. that is 7' o'clock. in this picture, the white mark for the main volume is at 9 o'clock. you under stand now? unplug the speakers from the computer completely do you get the hum or whatever problem you are having, crackle etc.
Leeb18509
C'mon dude. You're killing me. You don't understand "0" is off and "10" is max volume? Fine I'll play, if I turn the surround knob past "9 o'clock", very noticable distortion comes out of all 4 satellites. The satellites don't "crackle" or distort when they are unplugged. Only when I play music. You know, when it matters.... "in this picture, the white mark for the main volume is at 9 o'clock. you under stand now?" Yes, Justin I understand that understand is one word. I do apologize for the drumming but I'm twice your age and not an idiot. Thank you, drive through.
justin_tx_16
my great grandmother is like 5 times older than me, that does not make her smarter. to me it only makes sense to compare teh position of the white mark to a clock position. this is VERY common, not only here on the bulletin board but in the world's daily conversations. Boggie at 4 o'clock, you know that behind you to the right an enemy lerks, turn look up and turn to about 10 o'clock, then you will see the flour, and of course, turn the white mark to 12 o'clock. that is much easier than making up marks that do not go fully around the circle, but only about 90% of a circle. i did not call you stupid in any way. sometimes people will admit that they have NO idea what they are doing, sometimes they are physicists and still don't know how to set the control pod correctly, just not their forte, and anything electronic (nearly literally) is my forte. this is the standard that we use here to give a visual, otherwise it is utter confusion. i come here to help, not to be treated like I am an idiot. mute everything in the computer except wave and playback volumes, with those turned to full power. turn the volume on the control pod to nothing, zero, zilch. hiss? turn it up, on the control pod at what point (in time) do you get a hiss? if you then remove the wires fromthe computer at that moment, does the noise go away? ------------------ -justin SoundWise Support A technical help site created by me and my fellow Klipschers I am an amateur, if it is professional; ProMedia help you want email Amy or call her @ 1-888-554-5665 or for an RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5 Klipsch Home Audio help you want, email support@klipsch.com or call @ 1-800-KLIPSCH RA# Fax Number=317-860-9140 / Parts Department Fax Number=317-860-9150s>
