colterphoto1
using four loudspeakers as mains possibly has the following advantages a bit louder if you have plenty of amplifier power slightly less distortion at the same volume due to less driver movement maybe a slightly larger 'sweet spot' for good balance between L and R The disadvantages, imho, far outweigh any possible advantages blurring of the sound stage time delay due to different distances from speakers uneven frequency response due to cancellation caused by relative positioning of speakers and listener phase and comb filtering anomolies I would not recommend this type of setup at all despite what you may be used to. It's not going to be much louder or clearer and unless you really know what you're doing and have test equipment, the chance of landing all four in perfect locations is slim. Use the 82's for rear speakers or in another room. The RF83's setup properly should be all you need in most living rooms. Michael
Deang
A good explanation of comb filtering can be found in this thread: http://forums.mackie.com/scripts/forum/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=7;t=002253 What I'm really getting from the OP is that he likes the wall of sound effect and wants it to get loud as hell. He needs Klipschorns.
