The Dude
So if I only have 8 ohm speakers does it still work if I bridge to 4 ohms. If It does, does that double my watts and if so do I gain harmonic distortion. thanks duder
JJkizak
Do you mean parallel, series, or just hook the speakers to a 4 ohm tap? Bridging usually means measuring a circuit with a very high impeadence device which does not load down the circuit. JJK
The Dude
let me think about that for a moment, as far as parallel or series goes I think I have the right idea what you mean but could be wrong. duder
kouack
Bridging apply to amplifier, so for speaker, 2X 8 ohms 100 wattsspeaker in parallel will give you 4 ohms 200 watts capacity if this isyour question. Yes distortion will some how be added since you have 2speakers nowinstead of one doing the job, but for same SPL now you have 2 speakersto do the job they will not work as hard and will have less conemouvement = less distortion, so for your specific application woulddepends the speakers them self and how linear they are IMO.
