What about KG 1.5's?

I'm new here in the forum and have a question about speakers.

As much as I would love to use Heresy's, I just don't have enough space in my listening room. I would like to hear some opinions on bookshelf speakers I can use with a Jolida JD-202A integrated tube amp until I move the gear into a larger room. I have the chance to purchase a pair of KG 1.5's for $100, but I am not familar with that model. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Long ago, in a galaxy far away, I once owned a pair of Klipschorns .

Hi UberChurl,

Welcome to the Forum! $100 is a good price if you are picking them up locally and they are in very good shape. I have two pair of KG 1s in my garage and they get the job done in that setting. I think the 1.5s you're looking at would sound good with your tube amp. However, these smaller bookshelves are all starved for solid, full bass. You could add a sub to cover the low end. If you're moving into a larger room fairly soon, I'd save your $100 and put it toward a larger pair. I'm told Heresys RULE with tube amplification. Good luck!

After giving it more thought, I've decided to hold out for a nice set of older Heresy's. I just can't let go of my enjoyable memories of listening to a couple of unfinished birch beauties back in the 70's. I'll either move to a larger room or chuck some furniture...GRIN Also, I'm really curious to experience the sound of a Jolida JD202 through a pair of Heresy's.
