Help with speakers

Hi, I am new to this forum and I was hoping I could get some advice from some of you. I have been looking to get surround sound for my 54" panny S1. I want surround sound that will sound crisp and detailed weather it's playing low or high.

At first I was set on the Onkyo S6200, but I found this setup locally http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad=9624656&lpid=1&cat=494 and the seller said he would sell the setup without the receiver for $750. So here are my three questions for now:

1. Is this a good deal?

2. How would these speakers compare to the Onkyo S6200 if hooked up to the same receiver?

3. If these are better than the Onkyo S6200 set, what receiver would go well with these speakers?

Anyone? ? ?

Welcome to the forum. I think that most here have not heard the HTIB that you are referring to (nor have I), so they have no opinion. I have however heard a couple HTIB's and can safely say that purchasing seperate speakers, receiver and sub of decent quality always sounds better than a HTIB. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your replys! I didn't realize they were made in '97, He said he would sell the speakers and receiver to me for $650, which would be a good deal I think, but I think it would be better to just buy brand new. What would you guys recommend for a setup that will sound crisp and loud at low and high volumes? I would like to stay under $700 and prefer the 7.1 setups, but also heard 5.1 can be just as good.

There's no need for 7.1, first of all, there are only 17 movies with 7.1 sound (all on blu ray), all of them obscure, most of them really old, and lastly, they don't have 7.1 sound, it's 6.1 with a mirrored surround. Discrete 7.1 does not exist. Dolby Digital HD and DTS-Master are 5.1 and 6.1.

How about

1) 4 x Energy C-300 fronts ($520)

2) 8" subwoofer

You can just run a phantom center...it's almost impossible to find a space to put a center channel anyway.
