wuzzzer
You have to give us more information. Budget? Subwoofer type (self-powered or passive)? Brand? etc.
Olorin
The biggest, deepest, loudest, badassest sub you can fit in your room and afford. I'm serious. Building or buying?

wuzzzer
The only passive subwoofers Klipsch makes are for their Professional and THX line of speakers and there's pretty much no possibility to buy one for $300-500. You're going to need a pretty serious subwoofer to be able to match the output of your LaScalas. You'd be much better off saving up more money and then getting one that's going to be worth getting considering the other speakers you're matching it up to. Internet-direct brands such as Hsu, SVS, elemental designs offer a tremendous value for the money. High output, low distortion and most of their subs have useable output below 20Hz making them perfect for home theater.
bhendrix
Take a look at the Klipsch XW-500D. It gets great reviews. I have its baby brother, the XW-300D, for a bedroom system that is a really good sub. http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/xw-500d-reviews/ Vanns.com has a clearance unit for $424.90. http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/item/clearance/549046486/klipsch-xw-500d-black
