If it were me, I would seriously consider buying used. Some great deals out there.

I second this. I started with a used set of quintet IIIs, sub 12, and pioneer vsx-917 that I found on C list for $400. I then sold the quintets and pioneer for $400(got the sub for free!). After searching c list for a month or so I bought RF-35s and an RC-35 for 450, and RS-35 surround for 150. So I got a whole rf-35 setup and a sub 12 for $600. Just be patient and search, you will easily find what you want.
