speaker connections

A happy new owner of Klipsch RF-82 II speakers, they have dual binding posts and i have heard and read of different ways to connect one + and one - wire. The owners manual says to use the top pair ( tweeter input ) the shop i bought them at says the bottom pair ( woofer input ) and the latest issue of TAS says he connected the + wire to the top and the - wire to the bottom posts! All three ways will work, but is there ONE best way or not?

Are the two sets of connections strapped together with short leads? (these leads may be on the outside or on the inside, not familiar with that model) If so, all three configurations you indicated are identical. If the straps are removed, the two pairs of connections lead independently to their corresponding parts of the crossover network and are intended to be driven separately by multiple amps (bi-amping).

Did TAS offer an explanation? The audio signal is AC, so it is not like the electrons have a shorter distance to climb to the lower post and enjoy a longer slide down from the higher...

As mentioned above, the two set of terminals come from the factory with a shunt or jumper connecting the top + to bottom + and same with the - posts. It does not matter which set you connect the speaker wires to, just keep the positive and negative the same on each speaker (in phase).

To the best of my knowledge, the dual binding posts on these are made for "bi-wiring" not "bi-amping". In other words, if you choose to, you could run two sets of wires (2 positive and 2 negative) from the left speaker outputs to the left speaker and ditto for the right. In this case you would remove the jumper between the speakers input terminals.

Why would you do this? Do a google search for " does bi-wiring make a difference "
