Age of La Scala?

They are late 80's I think. I have a pair with AL-3 I just drove 12 hour round trip and paid $1100 for. I have 2 other pairs with freshly recapped AA crossovers, and the AL-3's sound better. Where I live, if they are birch, and have a nice finish and sound good, they should be worth 1000-1200 for the pair in my opinion. If they are beat up but sound good, 800-1000. If they need work, do the math.

Hi and thanx for the fast answer...They also have AL-3 crossovers...and do look very good...but:

They are being sold thru a audio shop here in germany and they want 2500!!! Get it? Euro!!! I think they must listen themselves....

I will look further on...

Well, I live in Belgium and never see any pair of LaScalas for sale. They are very rare in Europe as far as I'm aware.

I bought my pair for 400euros with extremely beaten-up enclosures and non-original woofers, ten years ago. I'm slowly upgrading them and they now sound fantastic. I bought them without seeing them because it was a "one chance in a million".

I don't feel like those are really overpriced, as they seem to be in very good shape. Talk with the shop owner, you might be able to negotiate a bit...
