Phono stage question...

Schu

Recommended Posts

I just received a Thorens 145 turntable, and tried to hook it up to my Integrated reciever through the Phono input... I can not seem to get any sound out of it. do I still need a preamp or phono stage if my receiver has a phono input? I dont want to bust the bank here, but those phono stages can be very expensive indeed... help!!!

What cartridge to you have? If it's a low output moving coil, you'll need a step up transformer or a headamp. If it's a moving magnet your phono input on your reciever is all you need.

If you have a moving magnet and it isn't working on your reciever phono input, your phono stage is bad.
