Will EQ help sound?

I have not finished my basement. That is where I eventually will have my main setup. It is still about 2 yrs from being done. I have a older Denon Rec and Polk Audio speakers and a Klipsch center speaker. Dont have a lot of space for getting a sub. Will a EQ work or is it by far better to skip that and try my best to find space for a sub?

It is always better to design and build a room to have the best performance for your speakers, with a flat response curve, with the least number of nulls. Its all math.

If this is possible, skip the EQ.

There is a lot of help on this BBS to help you acheve this.

There is nothing better than having your equipment in a room that sounds GREAT.

well, just to throw in different opinion i have a pair of late 60's vintage k-horns that i'm driving with a citation 22 amp (200 watts per channel). i'm also using an alesis 1/3 octave EQ that i mainly use to boost the low end below 62hz (as much as +8 at 31 and 40hz). only paid $75 for it used. can't live without it, the difference is incredible! there might be subwoofers out there that will outperform my setup, but i haven't heard them. wouldn't even want to guess what they would cost...
