cosifresco
Ok first off I'm really glad I signed up for these forums. I'm just a middle class guy that loves great speakers, like the ones Klipsch makes. One of my close friends was about to buy some 'BOSE' speakers, as soon as I heard this I called him and told him not to obviously. I would have told him to get the same Klipsch setup as me but his budget is only $600, which I know is kinda small but I think it works out because he lives in a new construction apartment building and anything to powerful would result in complaints. I really want him to get Klipsch but I'm not sure what I would get with that budget. Oh and he wants surround sound. What do you guys think he should get? cornfedksboy
Welcome to the forum! I would think the HD-500 would be a consideration. The MSRP is $600.00 for 5 speakers and a sub. A receiver would be needed. Also, check your local CL. A 5 channel Reference bookshelf system could likely be had for under $500.00.
GBShade684
What's your location? Saw someone on here earlier this morning that said they found some RF-83's for $450 in NJ. I know it isn't surround, but that's something I would jump at.
cosifresco
Sounds good, thanks a lot for your input!
cosifresco
Damn that's a great deal, if I had the time I would drive down there and grab them. I'm at Albany so it would probably take three hours.
cosifresco
Any ideas on the best receiver for around $150, to complete it?
K5SS
At $150 you will have to buy a used receiver. I love Pioneer but there are many Onkyo and Denon receiver lovers on here also. Keep checking craigslist. I just sold my Pioneer 1019 AH on craigslist for $200. There are deals to be had in the used market.
cosifresco
Good deal, thinking it's pretty steller? http://albany.craigslist.org/ele/2644345805.html
cornfedksboy
For a basic system, something like an Onkyo Tx-NR508 can be had NIB for $175.00 I know. Become a newegg.com subscriber and they'll send a weekend e-mail with some great bargains at/near that price. In fact, you can probably find a $1200 5.1 Klipsch or Energy surround system with receiver for $600.

mustang guy
On a budjet, you might consider the KG .2 or .5 series. I see those things being given away these days. I have 5 of them myself, and I can vouch for them.
