hhtatum
I imagine this has been discussed on the board ad nauseam but I couldnt find anything. I currently own KLF-30's and KLF-C7 that I bought new around 10 years ago. Because of a new TV and subsequent furniture change, I am considering a switch to the RF7ii and RC-64ii. The main reason for the switch is that the KLF-C7 doesnt fit in the new furniture. I bought an RC-62ii that fits fine but is a downgrade, for me, from the C7. I think I will be happier with the 64(over the 62) and it fits PERFECTLY in the new furniture. My question is what is the general consenses on RF7ii vs KLF-30? superedge88
I'm interested in some opinions from those that have heard both. Though for me, I think I'll be updating crossovers and diaphragms on my klf-30's to make them extremely hard to beat.
moray james
here is a slightly different spin on your situation. If your KLF 30 are solid and have no baffle issues (if you are not aware about this PM me as it does not need public discussion again) then here is what I would suggest before you spend a lot of money and switch from a three way to a two way. Install new horn diaphragms. Your KLF 30 come factory equipped with poly tweeter diaphragms and phenolic mid diaphragms. The poly tweeter diapgragms are the poorest things Klipsch ever made. You want to upgrade to new Titanium tweeter and mid diaphragms. This alone will probably have you wanting to keep your KLF 30. I do not believe that an RF7 ll can match the KLF 30. If you do this and you are pleased there are a number of other things which you can do to take them farther than you ever imagined they could ever go. Best regards Moray James. Rivernuggets
I also think it's worth upgrading what you have before jumping ship to another speaker line. It's a cheaper way to go and you can always sell your KLF setup later. I haven't heard KLFs yet but there is a big difference between three way and two way. The Titanium tweeters are $52 and the mids are $70, here's the page. The main reason for the switch is that the KLF-C7 doesnt fit in the new furniture. IMO, not enough reason to change it all up. But hey, sometimes the upgrade bug just hits you. Where are you located? Maybe there is someone close to you that can show off their RF7II system......? SWL
There are many "bang for the buck" Klipsch speakers out there (Forte's come to mind)......but the KLF-30's are the most underrated IMO. Unfortunately, the whole glue/mdf debacle gave them a bad name including the poly diaphrams. For under $160.00 you can throw some upgraded diaphrams in there and re-glue the cabinets and be set. Take it a step further by putting some tubes on them horns and you'll understand why "horns love tubes". [Y]

moray james
Bob does not yet have a Titanium mid diaphragm although he is working on one. The only place to get a Titanium mid diaphragm is from Klipsch. Well worth the money to stay three way and to make the jump toTitanium. Best regards Moray James. hhtatum
First, thanks to everyone for the responses. I just called Klipsch and they said I would need a specific part number to get anything from them. Does anyone know what that part number would be? If indeed I have been convinced to keep my KLF-30's that still leaves me with the center channel problem. The KLF-C7 is not an option under any circumstances. My question then is, will "upgraded" KLF-30's better voice match the RC-64ii? It doesnt have to be perfect for me and the current RC-62ii isn't causing me any voice matching concerns but the better they match, the better they match!
