QUiKSR20
What do you guys think of FACTORY REFURBISHED Products with a warranty from the MFR. Not third party refurbs. I can get an HK AVR-510 for cheap factory refurbed and basically new in box and also looking at some NAD Denon and other recievers this will allow me to afford a much better recievr than i can shell out the dough for. These are said to be in 100% new conditiion physically and refurbed by the factory to factory specs. Should I stay away from these or should i go for it and get a deal.. any help would be greatly apreciated. I have a couple deals that arnt gonna last long So please help asap if you can in any way thanks guys. ------------------ Thanks, Daryl Gregg MY Home Theatre Page Sony STR-DE975 HT Reciever Sony DVP-NS400D DVD SB-3 Mains SC-1 Center Quintet Rears KSW-12 Sub AR Proseries Interconects R.I.P. dougdrake
Well, Quik, as you know, opinions are like _____ but I'm a fan of refurbs, closeouts, "open box," etc... as long as a reputable company is behind them. This philosophy has allowed me to put together a system for about 1/3 of what it would have retailed for normally. Since you are talking HK, you're probably going to be fine. I know they often have refurbed stuff on their web site... Doug ------------------ My System
Mighty Favog
From what I've been hearing the refurb stuff can be actually more dependable than new. Meaning that after a unit has been refurbed then ALL the fuctions are much more extensively tested before it leaves the shop. I can't say that the same amount of attention is given to every NEW unit that comes off the line. I currently have a Panasonic 2.4GHz telephone that started having problems and was just a few months out of warranty. The factory does have an exchange program for about half what the new unit costs. The refurbed I was sent had a problem as well in the handset so the factory sent me a pre-paid UPS label to return THAT part. So I guess that if it's not crucial to have a quick turnaround time to have a unit repaired then go for it. ------------------ Tom's Money Pit
m00n
Ya I tell you, I wish I had known about the Harman Kardon referb site. I could have spent about an extra $150 or so and gotten a much better receiver. Yep, I for one would do a FACTORY referb. ------------------ the m00n system FRONTS: RF-7 CENTER: RC-7 SURROUNDS: RS-7 SUB: RSW-12 RECEIVER: Harman Kardon AVR 520 DVD: Toshiba SD 3205 (DD, DTS) TV: Samsung 27" Flatscreen COMPUTER: ProMedia 4.1 c>Microsoft XBOXc> f>
QUiKSR20
Cool I ended up selling my SONY Reciever on ebay. It sold in 1 day buy it now for 349.99 its only been used for a little while its a 2002 model and $20 shipping. I can ship for free from work. And i just located a Factory Refurbished Harman Kardon AVR-510 not the 520 or 320 i was looking for so it lacks Dolby Pro Logic II and 6.1 and 7.1 its got 5.1 all preamp outputs etc Im sure this will be fine for me. My Klipschs will be much happier now I think. Im picking up the HK for $370 refurbed + $30 shipping so $400 exact. At this price i dont think i could go wrong.. I could always wire up an old pro logic reciever to dupe up some 7.1 i think anyway. But Im not worried as of now since 5.1 is still the norm ------------------ Thanks, Daryl Gregg MY Home Theatre Page Sony STR-DE975 HT Reciever Sony DVP-NS400D DVD SB-3 Mains SC-1 Center Quintet Rears KSW-12 Sub AR Proseries Interconects R.I.P.
