oboz
Hello, I've just received my center speaker, the RC-64 ii but I'm still waiting for the amp, would you say running a movie (to try it out) at mid decent volume with an yamaha rx-v 861 (rated 105W @ 8 ohm) would damage the speaker? Silly question for some, but I'm asking because I simply dont know. Regards, Mike

It will not damage the speaker.

Islander
The "underpower causes damage" situation only arises when you're using such high volume that the amp will be driven into clipping. At moderate listening levels, there should be no problem.
Thaddeus Smith
we certainly don't blame you for being cautious with your new $1400 speaker, either
oboz
I live in Norway, so make that $1650, you dont wanna know what I payed for the rf-7 ii's. It's ridiculous how expensive hifi is here. =(
abjonesiii
I ran my RC-64 for years off my Onkyo 876 @ 140 watts per channel (probably not a true 140 either) without any problem and didn't hesitate to crank it up. Only recently added an amp and gave a full 200 watts. Go for it you'll be fine.
