I hate to say it but I have been eagerly awaiting details on the long time coming XMC-1 and honestly I am disappointed to see Emotiva coming to the table with a $1,500 pre/pro. Just from glancing over the specs I don't see anything jaw dropping or any gotta have thats. I think the main appeal of EMO over the years has not been that their gear is top of the line, its not. The appeal has been that you get 90% high end quality at a fraction of the cost. If they could have brought the XMC with these features in at $1k that would be something to get excited about and continue the EMO cost/quality legacy but at $1,500 I will be looking much harder at the Integra DHC 80.3 or Marantz AV7005. Just my thoughts. Someone correct me if I'm missing something here?

Klipsch didn't really quit making them per say.... The SW310 is the replacement with the woven woofer rather than the cerametalic. Haven't demoed it it but my brother has the SW112 and it has a really good sound. Not as fast as the 10 though. My dealer (klipsch dealer) offered me a SW310 for $600 so I'm guessing you could talk someone into that maybe even less.

I have seen that ad before. Funny thing is the msrp on the RSW-10d was around $1200.00. Bill Yeah I've oogled that one a time or two wondering "could this be last new one?" until I found a brand spanking new black one still sealed about 2 months ago for no where near this price. $1,299 was msrp when it was released I think. Got my first one for $900 and thought I had made out like a thief. lol The RSW10-d is a great sub but not a $2K sub. If I had that kinda coin laying around I'd be sweet talking an ultra13 [] for the HT and to OP as far as I know there are no DIY plans for this sub floating around. sorry.

I've got 82's and love them. I think people often miss label Klipsch as "bright" when in fact they are extremely natural and life like. Think about it, if someone took a bat and shattered a plate of glass right beside you would probably wence a little bit because the sound would be sharp and piercing. Shouldn't your Speakers reproduce that sound the exact same way, sharp and piercing?

IMHO one of the best musical subs klipsch ever made was the RSW-10d not to be confused with the RPW10. New ones are all gone but you could probably find one used around $300. Problem is everyone that has one doesn't want to sell it. Very musical sub. I run two of them.

Surround speakers don't get nearly the workout the front stage does. Nor do your ears hear as well to the sides or behind you as you can to the front. I don't think matching everything matters that much. If at all possible I would keep all the speakers the same brand and ideally the same line but thats it. That being said there are some guys around here running RF-82's for everything.

I'm not sure there are any bad brands, per say... They are all basically made of the same stuff. The trick is getting enough of what ever you buy to cover the right amount of square footage on the hard surfaces to make a difference. That being said I go the DIY route. Buy the batts online. Build the frames myself and attach fabric of choice. DIY cost per panel is roughly $28 per 2x4 panel for me.

To the best of my knowledge the only sub Klipsch ever made that was a triangle was the RT series. The reason the dealer was trying hard to sell it to you is because he has had it a long time and wants his money back. I spent a lot of time with the RT-10 & RSW subs in 2009 when I was buying speakers. And to be honest I was not very impressed with the RT's. Don't get me wrong they sound great but where no were near worth the insane price Klipsch had on them. I like the sound of RSW-10d over the RT-10 and price was not an issue at the time. RT's are great subs but I think they were in the $2K range which is in SVS 13ultra territory and thats a no brainer.

Hey Andy the theater looks fantastic!! I'm still envious of your THX Ultra 2 system. The sound was amazing. Picture was phenomenal and the gear choices are perfect. In case you didn't notice there is an XPA-5 in my rack now. What can I say you inspired me so I bit the bullet and got one [] However I am still terribly jealous of that Oppo. haha Yeah I float between here, AVS, and Audioholics. I think the Klipsch Forum is the best though. Everyone here is nice and helpful. The other two have a fair amount of equipment snobs and trolls. lol. I admit and embrace my inner audio video geek. [8-|] WOW... this is so cool for me on so many levels. I'm seeing someone post a picture of a house that I built, in a home theater that I was able to help with and I know the person posting! This is so cool. I've talked to a ton of people online and this is the first time Ive actually met them in real life. Awesome. Thanks Gary, My wife made the curtains. My whole family is DIY's to the core. I hate to buy anything I can build or make. IMHO the black ceiling is the only way to fly. As far as all the gear upstairs. The secret was disassembling anything large. Things like riser and stage where built in place and will have to be completely destroyed if anyone ever wants to move them.

First thought is that is a lot of space to fill. Your gonna need power and extension. Very understandable. But the biggest and I mean BIGGEST mistake I see people make in buying speakers is buying everything all at once. Most folks pick a budget and say "i only have this much to spend. So what can I buy" So they pick one nice item they want and then squeeze the rest in. Problem with this is that most of those squeezed in items are never what the owner really wanted so they are never truly happy and always want something else. Then at some point they buy something else and that first money spent was just thrown away. Best advice I can give is "Be patient" Good things come to those who wait. The RF-82's are great towers. They are the ones I chose for myself and love them. They can do bass very well. More than enough to sustain you. If i were you I would put that $300 under your mattress and start saving. $10 a week, $20 a week whatever you can and then buy a sub that will happily carry you for years and years and years. Thats what I did and I have no regrets about any of my equipment. Doesn't matter how long you stretch it out. For example for me this is what I did. Year 1 - bought a projector and screen. (Good screen that will last no matter the pj and the best pj I could afford. It was an Optoma HD70) But I had no sound! So I made do with an old Bose system I got free from a family member. Year 2 - Starting finishing bonus room to be a Home Theater (blew the whole budget on the room, didn't want to waste money doing it twice) Year 3 - Bought speakers and receiver (spent whole budget on just speakers so I won't have to ever do it again out of pure necessity) Year 4 - Bought Home Theater Seating ( blew the whole budget so I won't need new ones for 15+ years) Year 5 - Bought a new Projector, JVC RS45 Now - project complete 5 LONG YEARS. I know it seems like forever but it really wasn't. Now because I waited and saved for each piece I have a knock out theater that few will ever have but it took waiting and patience. Be patient and save, you won't regret it. ...if you can wait and save a bit the new SW-115, due out any day, looks very promising @ $800ish. A bit cheaper @ $600 ish you can grab a SW-310. ... or if you are set on $300 or bust the RW-12d would be my vote. BTW you are gonna enjoy those RF-82ii. Very good choice!

Even cheaper than Flat Rate ship them Media Mail at the post office. Anything that is "media" they will ship uber cheap. Just stuff as many as you can into a plane manilla envelope and as you calmly slide the grossly overstuffed, round, bulging, supper soft envelope across the counter say "these are VHS tapes. Media Mail please." and don't smile. [6]

I ran my RC-64 for years off my Onkyo 876 @ 140 watts per channel (probably not a true 140 either) without any problem and didn't hesitate to crank it up. Only recently added an amp and gave a full 200 watts. Go for it you'll be fine.

My mom used to have an Electrolux similar to the one in the attached pic. Sounded like a turbine running in your house and you should really have hearing protection while using it. Lots of metal... you knew it would last forever. Somehow it got out of the house and gone when we transitioned mom to a care facility. It worked great.Bruce oh wow I recognize that brand now. I remember seeing one of those at my grandma's house when I was a kid. Her's was silver and white though I think?

I built my own. I couldn't find anything I thought was suitable to hold the weight of RB-61's over a long time period reliably. Basically I built a triangle frame bolted to the ceiling. Disassembled the RB-61's, drilled some wholes and ran lag bolts up into the frame I built. ( I know I lost a lot of folks on the drill holes part, but they are just surrounds not a $2,000 tower) NOTE: yes I know they are upside down. That was intentional. Point was to get the tweeters away from the hard ceiling to minimize an immediate reflection.

Yeah and the National Rainbow Salesmen of the Year living like a block away from me doesn't help matters. Nor does my Wife's accounting practice being next door to a Rainbow showroom.. So yeah I'm screwed. Seriously though the next time that guy comes to my house wanting to through some freak'n dirt on the carpet I'm going to the garage and getting the shop-vac. Fire that puppy up and be like "What?". Then I'll reverse the motor (because it can!) and shoot tennis balls at him as he runs for the Lincoln Continental.
