secretplayer
Will a RC-7 work and be a good sound upgrade for my current KV-3? Mains are KG 5.5's with RS-3 rears. The Receiver uses automatic room equalization. It's a Pioneer Elite VSX-84TXSi that uses a fairly advanced Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration equalization process for the room with a mic feedback via a 9 band eq & associated ranges phase control (!?). The RC-7 looks better on paper but I am regretfully an audiophile.... Thanks. SP
Thaddeus Smith
the kv-3 is the "designated" center for those mains, in that it is voiced to work with those 5.5's of yours. The RC-7 is meant to be with the RF-5/RF-7s. While I have no doubt the RC-7 will keep up with your mains and even out perform your KV-3, it may sound out of place. Thaddeus Smith
i just did a quick search to see what others have recommended in the past and the KV-4 comes up as an upgrade/alternative to the KV-3 for use with the 5.5's. Dunno if/when you'll find one though..
elitedemo
weren't kv4s made specifically for the epic 3/4s kv3 is a much better match than a rc7 will be, id leave it alone and add a multichannel amp if you dont have one already
Thaddeus Smith
here's the thread i'm referencing. At one point the person asking called Klipsch who stated that the KV-4 might be a better fit, in spite of their marketing. http://community.klipsch.com/forums/p/111604/1122598.aspx
