Ave Bona Cornwall
To muddy the water, I haven't seen Hsu mentioned. I have also heard good things about Outlaw's LFM-1. Both are internet direct companies that offer great subs for lower than retail prices. I think they are on par with SVS. They also dig deeper (lower frequencies) than many of the retail subs. CubanJimbo
After having the RW-12D for almost a month, I'm so glad I returned it and got the SVS PB12 NSD. What a difference!!
artto
I hate to say this but I have to agree with a few others on the Forum that Klipsch seems to be behind the curve when it comes to subwoofers. I've owned Klipsch speakers since 1972 and haven't bought a non-Klipsch speaker since the late 80's when I bought some very small Infinity's for my office. At the time Klipsch simply didn't make anything that small at that low price point. I've been kicking around the idea of adding some subwoofers to my system for a while and finally decided to bite the bullet. I finally decided on a quad of Epik Empire. They cost $600 less than a pair of SVS PC13-Ultra and I'm quite sure they blow the SVS out the water and sound much better. Absolutely effortless. I've only had them about a week but so far they're everything I expected and hoped for (well, except for my back and muscle aches and pains from the 4 hour ordeal of getting them unloaded, moved downstairs into the music room and unpacked). I realize you're trying to maybe avoid an online type of purchase. But if you spent just a little more than the $800 limit you could get a pair of Epik Legend for $900 that would get you 2 reasonably sized cabinets for a total of four 12" drivers (no passive radiators). They're only a 40 minute drive from me so for me it was a no brainer. Sorry guys, I just had to post this picture again. I think they look and sound awesome.
