HOGFAN
I need some input on these two speakers....I'm looking at buying a pair for outdoor use and want to make sure I'm buying the better speaker. I've never owned a pair from the KP line.....your input is appreciated. Thanks, Hogfan
kg4guy
Never had a chance to hear the KP-3002 however if I had the extra cash I would get the KP-301's that Steve( fyrpwr) is selling in his thread.
colterphoto1
3002 kicks butt, however it's a composite board construction with carpet covering so will not hold up to excess moisture and wet weather. Way better than 250 in all respects. 301 would be a nice speaker for you too, keep in mind that 301 original had cw horn so 90^ and 301II is the Tractrix K604 so 60^, that might affect which one you want. PrestonTom
I am also a fan of the 3002. Incidentally, the KP-3002 and KP-302 are essentially the same units. The geometry and covering on the box are the only differences. I mention this in case there are any 302's available where you live.
colterphoto1
4 digit pros were made during the WWR period and are the carpet covered ones ( i know there's probably some exceptions), but the cabinets are mostly an OSB type material probably won't hold as well long term. Although if they're still around they've probably done pretty well. Just look for traces of moisture cause that would be cabinet death.
