TBrennan Posted May 30, 2002 Share Posted May 30, 2002 I think that's the Fletcher system developed by WE at Bell Labs in the early 30s. Those are multi-cell horns on top and a folded basshorn on the bottom. This system addressd the problems of the then current WE theater systems. Fletcher was the guy famous for the Fletcher-Munson curves. This speaker was used in the famous Bell Labs stereo experiments of the 1930s. It was WE's refusal to market this speaker that led a frustrated John Hilliard at MGM to develop the Shearer Horn system, leading to the subsequent big takeoffs of Lansing Mfg., Altec-Lansing and JBL.
