chambers1517
I have side Heresy's and back Heresy's. I also have two rows and the surround just doesn't sound right. I have Lascalas across the front. The sides are even with the back row and the back row sounds much better than the front. The ceiling is 9' tall and I have all 4 surround mounted upside down against the ceiling. Due to the dispersion of the horns I think the sound goes over my head. The front row gets very little surround info. The Heresys are big and stick out a lot. They work much better asthetically on their sides but then the dispersion becomes really narrow. Here is my question. What do you guys think would be the best overall compromise. Horizontal, vertical or maybe basically build vertical Slant monitor type cabinets. This would tuck the cabinets into the ceiling wall corner and angle the drivers down toward the listners.
Guest " "
HSM's have 5 sides and may be a little too complex , KSM's also offer a slant with less complexity.
psg
Are you tilting the Heresy down? I use a pair as side surrounds to great effect, and have a single Heresy rear with not much space for a second. I also have less space on the rear than on the sides so would like to put a pair of KPT series speakers there since they wouldn't stick out as much due to their wegde design. chambers1517
The speakers are not tilted, they are basically flat against the wall.
psg
Yeah, there's your problem I think. See http://community.klipsch.com/forums/p/73477/724554.aspx
The Dude
I think the kpt have a 15 downward firing, I build my own and used the 18" hangman. http://www.hangmanstore.com/Hangman-Products-Professional-French-Cleat-p/cbh.htm
bobdog
KPTs rock and the VB models have two skewed horns to eliminate the different response from row to row. Good value too.
