Dysmae
Hey guys. I am looking to expand in the subwoofer category and I have the opportunity to get great pricing on either of these subs. I currently have a Klipsch XW-300D, which is a great little sub. It is a sealed enclosure which I tend to favor over vented subs(I like fast, clean and tight subs over loud and boomy subs). The Martin Logan is a sealed sub while the Def Tech has the two passive radiators. The Def Tech can go to lower depths, however. I have listened to both subs in big box stores, but you can never really get a great impression from a store since they usually crank them up to obnoxious levels. Whatever sub I get, I will be eventually buying two of them. So, what are your impressions of these subs? I actually would be interested in buying another Klipsch XW-300D but they are long discontinued. Any help would be most appreciated.
willland
Dysmae, I have heard the XW-300d and your right, it is a great little sub and very musical IMO. Have not heard either the ML or DT. Are you open to buying a subwoofer on the used market? Where is your general location? Bill
RockOn4Klipsch
I'm not familiar with either of the 2 subs, but are you stuck on those 2 brands? For the money especially when purchasing 2, i think you could do much better. You could get a pair of SVS SB12-NSDs or even a SB13 Ultra. I also don't buy in to the Sealed sub vs Ported sub for music reproduction, at least not at the price points your looking at.
Dysmae
My location is in the Detroit area, but I am not looking to get a used sub unless it is for another XW-300D. I pretty much am stuck on these brands because of cost. I can get them for around $200 a piece and I doubt there is anything better in that price range. Don't know much about either sub but for $200.00 a pop, I am sure that would be hard to beat. Bill

There have been a few subwoofer shootout where ported vs sealeed subs were tested and most people could not tell which was which, with music or movies.
