vnzbd
I have a project working using some 10" woofer in a single cabinet into a mid-bass speaker to fatten up the area from approx 50-250ish hz. It is an experiment at this point and I am looking for a low cost crossover, preferably active. I had considered Harrison F-mods but for a few more bucks I found a "Rolls SX45" two way(Parts Express), varible from 50-2.5k. It's only 12db per octave but I am considering it to play with. Does anybody have any experience with this unit or other suggestions? Thanks!
Don Richard
A lot of people are using the Mini DSP with good results. It gives a choice of slopes, delays, different filter types, EQs and is much more flexible than the Rolls: http://www.minidsp.com/products/minidsp-in-a-box/minidsp-2x4
vnzbd
Thank you Don. It looks like quite the interesting product!
Don Richard
And they are not too expensive. They also have kits if you are handy with a soldering iron.
bracurrie
MiniDSP has worked very well for me. Highly recommended.
vnzbd
Question: As I am trying to crossover a bass/mid-bass speaker expecting it to top off in the 200-300 hz range, what is the general opinion of using a 2/3 ocatave eq? I have an Art Audio model that will operate at 12 db be slider which I would feel could kill the unwanted high freqs and tame the bass at the same time. It would also allow me to kill the bass unit it wanted. Feel free to shoot holes in my idea as I am only here to learn!
