Jim Cornell
In the past ive had a powerfull amp to the fronts, knocking out the rears! With cornwalls, and these chorus, i can not hear my RS-3-2s! So i leveled out the system, only using 1 pair of chorus, and i can hear them a lot more! Also i bumped up the 18 inch sub output to half boost! This sounds great, i am listening to pink Floyd momentary lapse of reason in natural surround on the outlaw 1050! If anyone expects the rear channel to perform like the fronts, it wont happen! The rear are only for enhancement in the theater, you think you dont hear them, but in reallity you do! If we use bigger than heresy, it would put the speakers to half thier use! Like having 4 cornerhorns front and rear, i see no logical scense in that! n theater the rears are only on when the digital surround kicks them in! Other than that, a decent small set will do just fine! Now if you use a good 100 watt amp for the rears, yes go bigger, Belle K-horn! Otherwise if not, RS-3-2s, or heresys are fine! sunbeam64
Hi Jim, Know this won't/ doesn't affect many, but I believe the THX Ultra-2 spec puts more emphysis on the rears (7.1)If it becomes popular(?) the tendancy for the rear speaker(s) to be drowned out will disappear. Mlstrass
I wouldn't expect the rears to sound like the fronts since about 75% of the sound seems to come from the front. BUT...I use a 3802 (110WPC x 7)with KLF-20's & 10's for rear surrounds & a C-7 for the back center and I get PLENTY of sound during action scenes, etc... The planes flying around in Pearl Harbor sounded incredible: sound was very loud & clear as it circled the room. Originally I only had the 10's in back & the 30's up front did seem to over-power them, but now the system is much better balanced. Of course YMMV...Mike
