MH: Questions about H/K Award Series A-300 tube Amp

Recommended Posts

OK,

I have the opportunity to pick up a Harman/Kardon Award Series A-300 tube integrated amp. Seller says it appears to have complete set of original H/K-marked tubes in it, including four 7408's. He has listened to it and says it is crystal clear, no hum, everything functioning correctly. Cosmetics are 9/10. Is this a good set-up? How will my Dynaco FM-3 do with this? I can get it for under 300 bucks...maybe ALOT under 300 bucks...but I need to let him know something pretty soon.

It will be pushing LaScalas, most likely...or maybe Heresys.

Tell me what you think? Thanks!!

I'm not Mobile But !!

I would grab it for sure if all is true about it. If you don't like it you can always sell it for a profit.

Good Luck Craig

The tranformers for these pieces are not exactly robust. I think there are other vintage units much better than the Harmon Kardon. IF you can get it for around $200 or below and not much more, I would float with it. I would not, on the other hand, pay $300 for it.

I believe the 6V6 tube will work in it as the tubes it calls for (7408) are hard to find. That is another reason I would stay way if too much money.

How much are you getting it for? Can you listen?
