timdog5000
Hello everyone, My first post here. I can sit back and JUST read no longer! First of all Ive been a big Klipsch fan even though I didnt know it since I was a youngster. My friends dad had a set of La Scalas that he would every one in a while let us jam out to as a teen. Through the years Ive had numerous HTIB and various attempts at pawn shop HT. But only in the past couple years have I really started putting much ACTUAL thought into the fact that im pretty much pis&@ng in the wind with my money. When I started really researching things ( ive actually learned alot on forums compared to what i did know) I come to the conclusion that KLIPSCH is what I want to build new HT with. My dream is RF-7 ii 7.2 HT with two SVS PB -13 ultrafor subs. you can see what I have now in my signature below, like i said I have learned alot reading and have been able to tweak my current system to 100% better sound than I started with. (ALOT TO LEARN STILL!!) my question is if I get a Rf-82ii setup for now would that be MUCH BETTER than what I have now? i read always to buy what u want from start or will regret later. But, Is it way overkill for rf-7ii ht? If rf-82 setup will be night and day difference from what i have i may just get it. ( sorry for.bad typing, using iphone) i will be adding 200 watts per channel to whichever system i get with emotiva amps. and using YAMMY as processor. room is 26x15x8 dont think that is in signature. ANY suggestions or comments appreciated. i would love to actually hear a rf-82 or rf-7 ht but in my area St.louis ,MO. the only place i have found that sells Klipsch Reference sells only rf-7 and will not reAlly let me listen without trying to talk me into b&w and will not turn it up. thanx a bunch! derrickdj1
Welcome to the forum, the best way to tell if you would like Klipsch compared to what you have is to audition some of the Reference line. The 7II's will be different than the RF 82's but it should give you an ideal. You will be going from a dome tweeter to a horn loaded tweeter and may or may not like the difference. I have never heard the Pinnacle speakers so maybe others will chime in with more knowledge on the comparison.
Scrappydue
Welcome! Drive on over to Kansas City side I can do a demo for you and can also have friends with rf-82's that you could hear as well. In fact buying used is a great way to save money maybe we can find something for you while you are here!
timdog5000
I have looked at all the b stock at Sound Distributors and those types of companies. I actually like the color of the b stock a little better, I hate to say it The cherry seems like it would match the SVS PB 13 Ultra (cherry) better. I appreciate the offer to hear the system also, that's cool of you. Funny thing is, I'm not scared to drive four hours for the speakers, I'm obsessed my wife says. I guess that's just what happens when you're passionate about something. I'll probably wind up starting with something I could use now like the amps and work my way up to the other things. Thanks for your input I appreciate it.
Scrappydue
If you ain't scared I'd be more than happy to have you. I have drove about twice that far to demo and buy a set of speakers. My wife just laughs at me. Let me know if you are interested.
