rhawki
Hey everyone! Every now and then i could swear i hear a raspy sound coming from one of my KLF-30's, ususally on mid-range tones. It's not the back coming loose as far as i can tell, but i was wondering if there's a CD or something i could buy to generate and hold different tones so i can try and isolate this. Any suggestions? Actually, i guess i could use my SoundBlaster and a software of some sort... hmmmm Thanks! -Rich
Mighty Favog
If you know of anyone with a cheap eq that has a pink or white noise generator built in that should be enough to do it. ------------------ Tom KLF-20 Mahogany Carver Receiver MXR-150 Yamaha PF-800 Turntable/ Sure V15 Type V Cartridge Carver TL-3100 CD Yamaha K-1020 Cassette dbx 1231 EQ dbx 3bx Series Two H.H. Ray Garrison
Stereophile has three different test CDs that have frequency scans that hold specific frequency ranges for long enough to isolate resonances and evaluate room response. Take a look at: https://secure.rt66.com/stereophile/new/recordings.shtml I recommend test CD number 3. Ray
WMcD
You might try the free tone generator software. It can be found in the download section of www.nch.com.au. It does not sweep. However, you can move it up and down in semi-tones from the keyboard. The price is right. RS sells the mini plug to RCA wire you might not have on hand to connect the computer output to the receiver input. Note, do use responsible levels. Continuous tones can easily over drive your speakers. Also you may find that these pure tones will cause items in the room to resonate. This could be your problem to begin with. rhawki
Sweet! Thanks for the info folks! Hopefully everything's ok and it's my ear tricking me, not a speaker prob. -Rich
