Absolute Sound High-End Audio Hall of Fame; the Beatles in Mono review

The new December, 2014 issue of TAS honors 18 people "who were instrumental in creating the high end."  Presented in alphabetical order, each gets a full page that includes a nice picture, a well-done descriptive bio, and a career timeline.  (One page goes to the two individuals who founded Sony.)

Naturally, PWK is honored.  "Big ideas in audio are few and far between, but Paul Klipsch's high-efficiency folded-horn corner loudspeaker was, by any standards, a major step forward."

The issue also includes "The Beatles in Mono," a thorough historical technical review and discussion of the 14-LP box set just released in September, written by the very busy Neil Gader who also wrote the PWK bio page.  "Apple has redeemed itself (from compromises in previous digital releases) by cutting TBIM from the original analog master tapes" and employing "a pure analog chain, with no digital processing whatsoever."  An interesting article.

Thanx for the heads up on this Beatles article. Being a huge fan, I try to digest as much Beatle info as I can find. I have the Mono CD box set and it sounds Great. I thinking about getting the LP  mono box set too. but well you know..... do you have a link to that article. I have never heard of TAS Honors.

thanx, Al

Hi Al,

I could only find "Part Two" of the Beatles article on the TAS website.  My issue just came yesterday, so maybe more will come on line later on.

I don't think there is a regular TAS Honors.  I couldn't find this particular article on the website.  There is the big $130 book of high-end audio, but it's more diffuse with more people and info.

Sorry for the slowness of getting back to this thread. I've been MIA. Anyway thanx for pointing me in the right direction. I found TAS It stands for The Absolute Sound (lightly knocks my self in the head). looks like all sorts of reviews forums and blogs. (Just found an 8,000 phono preamp). They say it even sounds good. Thanx again Alain
