avman
in another post on this ht section, ttk mentions setting-up a tv w/a disc for hue, and other picture ajustments. the blue color filter is VITAL to set the hue on a tv.you can get blue filter glasses from thx for cheap! go to:www.thx.com and check out the 'optimizer' glasses. the thx optimizer a/v set-up section on a variety of dvd's works fine for video set-up. avman. ------------------ 1-pair klf 30's c-7 center (looking for 1-m.o.klf-20) ksps-6 surrounds RSW-15 sony strda-777ES receiver upgraded to v.2.02 including virtual matrix 6.1 sony playstation 2 sony dvpnc 650-v 5-disc dvd/cd/SACD changer dishnetwork model 6000 HD sat rcvr w/digital off-air tuner jvc s-vhs-et hi-fi stereo vcr sony kv36xbr450 high-definition 4:3 tv sharp xv-z1u lcd projector w/84" 4:3 sharp screen Bello'international Italian-made a/v furniture panamax max dbs+5 surge protector/power conditioner monster cable and nxg interconnects/12 gua.speaker wire Natuzzi red leather furniture set KLIPSCH-So Good It Hz! Malcolm
Cool! Like the old 3D movie glasses, except two blue lenses instead of one red and one blue. Looks like an improvement over the blue strip that comes with the AVIA DVD.
tripod
Is this worth doing with a standard TV? I have a 32" Toshiba that I got about 3 years ago.

T2K
Take a pencil and piece of paper and write your current settings down ( contrast 11:00 o'clock, hue 01:00 o'clock, contrast 09:42 am, etc.) then after adjusting wait a few days to become accustomed to new settings. Chances are you won't change them back. Keith
T2K
Oh yeah, as I said before some laser discs have what I consider better video set-up screens than what I've seen recently. Of course I haven't been looking too hard. Seems like Apocalypse Now had some. Keith
Malcolm
IMHO it is definitely worth going through something like the THX setup or AVIA setup with any TV. You will see detail you never saw before.
T2K
Wonder if life in general would look better thru those optimizer glasses? Keith
avman
uh..ttk..those would be ROSE colored... took me a couple of days to appreciate the more accurate, although 'softer' picture that results from tuning toward the ntsc 'standard',as well as turning down the sharpness ever see ringing?? avman. avman
assuming that you were just making a'funny',ttk, for the rest of you:'ringing' is a ghost-like artificial contrast enhancer type thingy, it doesn't look good. avman.
