jimjimbo
It appears to me that there are two iterations of the K-700 horn. The "first generation" which has a rougher finish and looks thicker in construction. Then there is the next generation which has a much smoother look, seems to be thinner in construction, but which is noticeably heavier in weight. It seems that the "second generation" heavier horn would be more desirable, yet I've seen numerous listings on the bay and elsewhere stating that the thicker "first generation" is the better and more expensive of the two, even though it's quite a bit lighter in weight and apparent density.....Am I reading this right? Is there a noticeable difference in performance between the two? Edited January 4, 2015 by jimjimbo

jimjimbo
are you sure about the weight. i've had both and i think the early version weighs more I'll be taking photos and weights later today.

jimjimbo
Photos and weights. Horn on the right in each photo is what I understand to be the "First generation" K-700 horn. Much thicker construction, but much less dense, and weighs an entire 16 oz. less than the other. So, my question remains, why is the thicker horn (supposedly) more desirable?
djk
PWK told me the newer one measured better, as well as being less expensive to make.
