sean5340
Can anyone recommend a good non-professional soldering station? It's for general home use. I would like multiple tips and variable power in the $100 dollar range. Thanks in advance.
LarryC
I had one of those for a while, but gave up on it and returned to good'ol Weller guns. I couldn't control the heat and keep it coming when I wanted, unlike handling the Weller trigger. I didn't think the station was as convenient as it looked, especially with the separate pointer cord. However, I'm fumble-fingered in these things.
Thaddeus Smith
Get a used hakko with variable temperature on ebay. I did that about 5 years ago with zero regrets
WMcD
I love, love, love, my Weller WES51. I doubt you need manually set variable power. The Weller has a thermostat which I leave at 500 F degrees which is midrange. I've spent twice as much over the years with irons that somehow seem to be too hot or too cold. Soldering is a whole new experience with the Weller. I'm sure other brands will work for you too. Just make sure they are thermostatically controlled. And do spend the $100 rather than some super cheapo deal. You might find something you like on e-Bay. WMcD
