BOSE QC25 Headphones

Was sitting in the DFW airport waiting for my longasss connecting second flight, and decided to buy a pair from one of the Best Buy vending machines. Thought it might make a 4 1/2 hour flight feel like less....... wrong.

They sounded better than decent, but damn things will cook your ears in no time. Couldn't stand wearing them for more than about 30 or 40 min, before my ears felt like they were on fire. Feel like I wasted $300 and change on a pair of headphones that suck compared to my 10 yr. old Sennheiser, also with noise canceling feature.

The Bose headphone caters to the Apple iPhone crowd, so their nifty built-in volume adjust and song skip feature was inoperable with my Samsung android smartphone.

My eldest daughter inherits her first pair of over priced ear muffs, and I'm still happy as a clam with my outdated pair of Sennheiser headphones, that at least allow my ears to breath. Moral of the story, don't buy Bose.

Which Sennheisers do you have? Bose is definitely the best in the business at noise cancelling. However I myself never had a need to feel like I'm in a vacuum.

Personally, I resort to my pair of X11 headphones just because I can still put my head on a pillow with them in.

Yep I prefer open back as well of course I dont go on flights so I dont have to worry about disturbing anyone else, I tried IEM but they make my inner ear canal itch after just a few minutes............Senns are super comfortable I may look at owning another pair in the future I thought the hd650 were very good but prefer the planers SQ.................Comfort is no contest Sennheiser wins hands down

Which Sennheisers do you have?

Just pulled them out from my nightstand. The ear piece has the following info: PXC 300.

I purchased them in 2005, for around $200, don't really remember, all I remember is thinking they were too pricey for being so small, but since I own another set of Senn's headphones and was pleased, I took the risk.

The degree of noise cancelation of my 10yr. old Senn's is every bit as good as the latest and greatest BOSE, and I'm edging toward better than the BOSE. About the only thing the BOSE have over my tiny PXC300's is bass, but it's not significant enough to my ears.... and I can't stand the fact that the BOSE are hot as hell to wear. Battery life of the BOSE is better than my 10yr. old Sennheisers, so it may be time to upgrade to a new model.

As for comfort, the PXC300's are supremely lighter and more comfortable than the BOSE QC25's. And the Senn's pack in a case that's is about 1/4 the size of the BOSE travel case, making the Senn's the clear travel choice in my book.

I rarely use headphones when traveling, and usually pack them along for overseas travel. I guess I was just bored as hell at the DFW airport, kind of wish I'd have saved my money, but at least one of my daughters is happy with her new headphones / ear pressure cooker. Guess I'll have to give my other daughter the PXC300's.
