rockhound
Need advice. I finally acored a set of the 301's these are the B versions. Anyway what is the proper gear to have with these? My existing setup is a MC2105 amp and a Peach pre will this be sufficient or is there another direction i should look?
CECAA850
I have an ATI 150 wpc on mine. Your Mac should certainly drive them. If the caps are original in the 301's I'd replace them.. Mine were a mess so I just ordered a set from Bob.

HOGFAN
Rockhound, I run mine with a QSC GX-5, using an HK 730 as preamp, and it's pretty awesome. They can handle all that the GX-5 will dish out, with ease! When I got mine a couple of yrs back, I noticed the crossovers looked different. Bob Crites helped me get the crossovers corrected and refreshed and I added new tweeter diaphragms. Good luck with your 301's.....they are great speakers! CECAA850
Here's the difference between Bobs crossovers and my old ones. One of mine wasn't even for the correct series and was coming apart. I got titanium diaphrams from Bob for these as well.
CECAA850
Click the above picture to enlarge. One thing I forgot to add. Once I put the new networks in, the mids were a little hot. I contacted Bob and he sold me 2 different caps (they were cheap) to replace on the boards and instructed me to change taps on the transformer. That cured it. rockhound
Appreciate the info my 2105 powers them good! They sound great to my ears no sub needed with these. I wouldn't mind bi-amping them in the future. I'm sure the covers could use a refresh as these are stock.
rockhound
Another question! My 301's have regular grilles I would like to change these to the black perforated grilles does anyone have a source for these?
nd-irish147
are the grills you currently have fabric?
HOGFAN
Rockhoud, I think I've shared this pic with you before, but not sure....I refinished the boxes with Duratex and added new fabric from Parts Express. These are my tailgating speakers....perfect for Razorback games! I did look at possibly doing the grills in a perforated steel, but thought I would try just adding new fabric first.....I'm happy with this option...for now. rockhound
Yes mine are fabric. Hogfan those are sweet for sure! I'm hoping metal grilles will help with teenagers and them growing into their shoes!
