Opinions on Harman Kardon AVR 320?

I'm thinking of trading my AVR 125 back in at Fry's and getting the AVR 320. I can get it for $488, so all I will need to do is fork over a couple extra hundred on top of the return I get for the AVR 125. Here's the specs on the 320....

It would have 7.1 which I don't have now, and it has pre-outs I believe, on the back of the unit it said "multi out" and had a L/R RCA jacks, is that the same thing as a pre-out for an amp? I really want to have that option to add an amp later if I want. It also has the DTS-ES 6.1 which I don't have either.

What do you all think? Should I do it?

Scott, it only has 5 channels of amps built in. If you want to use a rear center channel, you need another amp. Other than that it looks good.

Doug - Cool, that's what I'm looking for, some pre-outs so I can add some amps! Multi-room is nice too!!!! What is the 8 channel pre-amp inputs for?

Jim - Cool, I would use an amp anyways to power the rears and a rear center, thanks!!!

It looks like I will be getting that reciever then!

Ah, ok, that's cool I guess Smile.gif Maybe I will pick it up this weekend after I get my RS-3's, the reciever even has 10w/channel more than my 125, WOW, huge difference huh? Wink.gif j/k 10w/channel more is better than nothing I guess.

To use the DTS-ES 6.1 does the DVD have to be encoded with it, or does the DVD just have to have DTS? What's the difference if you know?

On my Yamaha, if the DVD is not DTS-ES encoded, the receiver will mix the rear channels into the rear center. It creates a phantom channel.

Cool. So DTS-ES is useless unless you have the rear center, no better than regular DTS if you have a 5.1 setup? If you have a center, why not use a 7.1 option on the receiver?
